Small Dog Owners

Recommended Posts

My mother's never had a dog smaller than a cocker spaniel, so she a little at a loss as to what to do with and how to train Pogo. (He's a silky poo mix... kinda looks like a wire haired terrier to me.)

Are there any small breed forums or reading materials you'd suggest for her?

Here's some photos of him for good measure.

You're right Linda, nothing can beat an obstinate husky.

Kristina I googled 'training for small breed dogs' and it seems the training does differ slightly, maybe you should have a look, there may be something useful for your mum on there.

This also looks like a good site on House training a smaller dog

I helped train my ex ex's jack russell when he got one as a pup.

I would say it was the same really, use rewards/praise when they do something good and ignore when something bad. We never had him on a lead as my ex was a farrier so from pup just got used to always staying close to us & so came back when he was called.

Easier than a husky!!

Might be worth going on the pet forums (google it) then have a look in the relevant section at peoples signatures. If there is a forum around Im sure thats probably the way your gonna find it
