    Hayden loves pig ears

New to the forum. These are a few pictures of my puppy Hayden. She just turned 8 months old a few days ago. Obviously a few is these pictures are from this previous winter. She is a spitfire. Sassy and just a crazy little character but I love her to bits!

  2. Hello folks. I'm Trish, I live in rural France, and next week I'm picking up my husky crossbreed puppy, aged 11 weeks, called Cézanne. He is one quarter each of Husky, Malamute, Belgian shepherd and Pyrenean sheepdog (though the grandparents might also be crossbreeds, so there could be more breeds in there). I have bought him as a companion animal to my Breton spaniel/Gordon setter cross, Zola, who is now 13. He will be crated in our living room, where we spend most of our time (we work from home and are not out much). However, I also have three adult cats - one aged nearly 20 - and would appreciate any advice on handling introductions, etc. Is the prey drive is equally strong in crossbreeds? Do I need to keep him crated or on a lead at ALL times when the cats are around? I can supervise encounters in the house but are the cats more at risk in the garden? Or do I just need to suck it and see? I've heard such horror stories about Huskies and cats that it is making me a bit apprehensive, as I love my cats very much. FYI, we have one hectare of (near as dammit) unfenced orchard, surrounded by mostly arable farmland (but also a chicken farm!), the garden is full of rabbits, and I usually walk my dog for 3km each morning either on-road or round the local lake. Is this enough for now, or will I need to add an afternoon walk to take the bounce out of Cézanne? My spaniel is old, so 3km is all he can take now in one go, though he spends most of it off-lead, quartering, so he goes a fair way, and he also runs round the garden all day. I don't plan to take Cézanne off lead until he learns to come back (or possibly never...). I have bought a Halti harness for him (the type that goes round the nose), and a backpack, plus a training lead, standard collar, standard harness and a 10m tie-down tether. Any advice greatly appreciated. T
  3. Hello Everyone, It's been a while since I shared any photos of Aurora (last pics were at 8 weeks old). She told me she wants to say hi to you guys She picked a few photo's she thinks you will like ........
  4. So today I noticed some redness around my boys eyes and nose. Obviously I want to get him to the vets asap. But could anyone have any ideas what it may be? He had an ear infection about two weeks ago (all cleared up now) and recently I've started walking him a different way. (Through fields and that) Is it possible for a dog to have hayfever? Or something along the lines of it? As i've done my research it's common for them to get nasal and eye infections (or so says the internet) but we've also had alot of news about this "smog" could that be affecting him? Any help would be great!
  5. Hi. My fiancee and I recently adopted a young Husky. She will be one year old April 20th of this year. A student we knew did not have the time to dedicate to such an active dog between two jobs and going to school full time and I knew we had the love and time to dedicate to her. So we took her in. However, we do have two cats. The cats are taking well to her and don't seem to mind that she's around, but she wants to play something awful and they are not having it. We are worried that she's is going to be too aggressive with them and injure or kill one of them. From Husky owners who have previous experience with this, my question is, is there any way to make her understand that our cats aren't interested in playing in the same way she is and she needs to be a little bit more relaxed with them? I know huskies are very predatory, but I don't feel as though she thinks of them as a snack as much as friends. She is always happy to see them, but they are not as happy to see her when she is excited. Thank you so much for your help. Everyone, meet Nova.

I was working on my laptop and she forced her way in, head under my arm and fell asleep. She does love her snuggles.

  10. Hello. This is Lukas. He is now almost five months old. He is said to be a husky but when we took him to the vet they said he was husky malamute mix because he has back double dew claws. He's a very tame soul. I'm Savie. I am 28 years old. I have type 3 Osteogenesis Imperfecta. It is a brittle bone disease that didn't allow me to grow past three feet or walk. I'm in a power chair. My boyfriend and I got Lukas in November because husky is our dream dog. Because of my brittleness and the fact everyone seems to think husks are hyper unable to be tamed dogs we got a lot of criticism from family and friends for choosing Lukas. We didn't care because we don't invest in stereotypes. We picked the shy dog that didn't come to us. We did our homework. I stay at home with him. He is so gentle with me. He lovesssssss to wrestle with daddy and he is very social with other dogs. Him and my cat are working it out. Lol. He's Kennel and potty trained already. Has known sit from day one. The vet says he's a sweet boy. I love him. Here we are day one. Here we are a week later. He's a joker like me. Here's just last week. Hi,m and daddy.
  11. Today Wolf (9 months old this saturday), had his first experience with snow! We've had cold weather, but not real snow, and it was amazing seeing him in the forest enjoying himself, here in Denmark. I just wanted to share some pictures from today with you Enjoy!
  12. Can anyone tell me which breed of dog this is? I've never come across one with such unusual markings. Many thanks,
  13. Today I bought my longboard and got to film my husky pull me for the first time. It is super fun. And he gets a good exercise out of it. Definitely will be doing more of that! Except for the part where I almost fell off because of how fast I was going. Pulls super hard, strong dog. Haha Picture was obviously moving but it goes to show how fast I was moving!
  14. Today I took my husky to the vet she is about 7 months shes seems healthy and she recieved her parvo shot and advantage plus flea and tick plus heart worm prevention. I applied the advantage on her and she seems fine, but I noticed her breath smells bad like Ammonia her breath hasnt never smelt this way before or yesterday. Is it the shot and flea medication causing this?
  15. This is him - http://youtu.be/FsJKsSNRUI0 I plan to post more better videos soon. Got a GoPro so the videos I will make of my husky will be a lot better. Subscribe to my channel for more! If you have a channel, let me know so I can subscribe to yours as well! Love to see these dogs!!
  16. My baby when he was a baby! Gorgeous breed!
  17. Hi everyone Missy is a female and will be 10 weeks this Friday. She looks healthy and is still adjusting to her food but I am concerned that she is far too small. She weighed in last at 5.2 lbs at 8 weeks. She is now 7 lbs at 10 weeks. We are feeding her twice a day a little over a half cup each time and she will sometimes leave a little. Any help you can offer I want to make sure our pup is on the right track!
  18. http://youtu.be/UovpppIspY8 He quietly slipped away from us at about 5pm on the 14th of May 2013. Although his was a short life that never reached its completion... these short months have made our lives so much richer and fuller. Odin, with his tiny 'angel wings' on his back, had always been our guardian angel. He was a champ even without winning any medals. He was the best dog one could ever have... I will miss you so much. Goodbye Odin. http://www.the-elchemists.blogspot.com/2013/05/odin-siberian-husky-king-who-ruled-our.html
  19. Hiya! I'm Darian and i just got my very first Sibe puppy two days ago! His name is Nanook and hes really smart!
  20. Hi, new here. I was just wondering, my husky has turned 10 months. He stays outside in the back garden and when any of the family go out to the back to him he gets excited and playful and jumps. The problem is when he jumps he jumps for your arms and nips them. Everyone shouts no at him when he does this and turns around and ignores him. He will then go and start nipping the back of your legs to try and make you turn around or push himself between your legs lol. Nothing we do seems to stop him from nipping. Any ideas? Thanks
  21. Hiiii peeps! I'm Kita, my other half is Tom and our bubby Malamute is Kovu. Is is 8 months old but the size of a wolf! We've recently bought a house in Bedford (only down the road from Milton Keynes where we're from) but are still new to the area and are looking for new Husky friends to meet with Kovu so he cam ve around his own kind. We have another dog Toby (Welsh Collie cross) but he's 8 years old so a bit boring and antisocial as he was a rescue from Battersea dog's home. I was recommended this site from Niki who we met up with earlier this evening, who said it's a great place for advice and to meet other Husky/Malamute owners. I'm still getting used to the site but have got lotttts of piccies of Kovu I will upload and will put a couple up of Toby the Collie too. Hopefully speak to you soon. Take care x

  23. Hello All, So yesterday I was sleeping in my room and my husky (oakley) was outside withe one of my roomamtes. He claims that he put Oakley outside to be away from the cats yet when I woke up that was not the case. I woke up to a screeching sound which was Oakley playing with this small cat yet Oakley played with it to death. It is very unfortunate and I put Oakley away immediately although I know things like this do happen. After this I gave Oakley a walk and woke up, put Oakley in his Crate and went to work. I got a call from a neighbor saying Oakley got out. I knew this had to do something with my roommate whose cat was killed so I asked him. He pretty much told me he did it without telling me and I kept speaking to him and he said well it must be since he is so good at opening doors. He told me this would be happening more often which scares me cause I know that means my roommate is going to let him out often so something bad happens to him. I need advice on what I should do, I have a lease on the house until January and he is telling me that i need to find Oakley another home or it will happen more often. Please Help! Thank you, Nik
