  1. Aw excellent news 😍 wehave had the same snow in bc
  2. We have thought lab as well. Esp when she is beside our friends yellow lab ☺️
  3. You will have to come visit Canada in the winter months then...We have about 4 feet in our yard. This has been an epic year though. We live near a ski hill called Red Mnt, so it has been great for the ski hill. We love skiing and well Joyce is in her element
  4. Oh wow Ice is a gorgeous girl. I can definitely see the GSD in her. The sloping back legs. Very pretty. Before Joyce, we had a dog named Quina from the same shelter. Quina had horrid recall. Any chance she got she was gone. She probably had 7 nights where she had all nighters and we didn't know where she was. She loved to run away. We would have awesome times with her and then at the end of our adventure, she wouldn't come to us and would take off. Joyce on the other hand is bonding to us and is sticking around which is so lovely. It is so tough when they try to escape.
  5. Yes we have a lot of snow...It won't stop snowing here. lol...I am quite ready for Spring
  6. Aww how did it go with Shilo? Did the trial adoption work out?
  7. I found this forum through google searching. I was panicking a bit about adopting our pup and just wanted more information about the breed We did have a husky cross previously but our previous husky came to us at 2-3 years old from the NWT SPCA and was very wild and had the instinct to run away as much as possible which ultimately led to her death (she was attacked in the forest by a cougar).
  8. Hi, New to this forum. We adopted a 6 month old husky cross from the North West Territories SPCA and had her flown to us in British Columbia. She came with the name Joy, but my husband and I had a hard time saying Joy, so we changed her named to Joyce. We adopted her on January 18th. She came from a small community along the border of Nunavut and the North West Territories. She was surrendered to the Yellowknife SPCA with 3 of her siblings at age 5 1/2 months old. Her birthday is July 17, 2017. She was quite bonded with her sister Eve, but Eve was dominant and Joy was the submissive pup. She was the runt of the litter. They anticipate she will be 50-60 lbs. We love how soft her coat is, her burnt orange colorings, how sweet she is. She has really excellent recall already. She will stick very close to us and do laps around us to make sure that we are still around. She sleeps through the night in her crate. We are working on house training. She isn't house trained but will hold it in her crate and won't have accidents in the house as long as we are watching her closely and take her out every 2-3 hours. We also have a 3 year old son and she is very gentle with our son. People comment that they can't believe she is a 7 month old puppy because her demeanor is so calm. Outside though she is wild. ha ha
  9. Aw thanks. She is such a lovely girl. Crate trained and sleeps through the night in her crate. Has good recall. Very sweet with my 3 year old. We have really lucked out. People can't believe she is a 7 month old pup for her mellow temperament ☺️
  10. Hi we adopted our husky cross when she was 6 months old. She has now been with us a month. What do you think she is mixed with? Her name is Joyce and she has a beautiful burnt orange coat. She weighs about 40 lb currently.
