  1. Me too - but I don't tell anyone he's a rubbish guard dog as he looks scary when looking out the window so he's a good deterrent. Sent from my iPad using Husky Owners mobile app
  2. I can vouch for the Husky for Dummies book. It's a serious book but written for normal people (not dummies). Some good background info about the breed too. I wouldn't take the dog less than 8 weeks - potential for serious behavioral problems down the line and you really don't want that with a Husky. Enjoy your dog - they are not an easy dog to look after but the reward of having a pretty special breed is worth it. Sent from my iPad using Husky Owners mobile app
  3. It's a truism that no dog is 100% reliable off lead and clearly Huskys are just about the worst. That said it is not true that no Husky is safe off lead, some can some can't. I would however advise caution and if there is any doubt I would advise against it. I also agree they can be pretty 'sneaky' and lull you into a false sense of security before doing a runner. Also agree Huskys are not normal dogs - I thought Collies were 'bonkers' but Huskys on a different level. That's why I love them. Sent from my iPad using Husky Owners mobile app
  4. Yep - they also make nice pillows... Sent from my iPad using Husky Owners mobile app
  5. That's like calling an electrical outlets in your house an eSocket. Using electricity to stun dogs into behaving is animal cruelty full stop. Most of the world has moved on from these torture technics. Also if you are relying purely on the shock collar you risk losing your dog because there is no learning taking place here, just avoidance of pain. Any animal behaviorist worth their salt (many don't even understand the difference between negative reinforcement and punishment) will confirm this. Sent from my iPad using Husky Owners mobile app
  6. All been said so I'll put it this way as an acid test for anyone considering one of these. Even on low voltage, it equates to a firm smack on the neck. Would you be happy to deliver the same level of punishment in a more observable way ? Where I live you wouldn't keep your dog very long. Ps OP looks like an advert
  7. Griff can open doors but not shut them again. Funny, I now hove 3 boys that do that :-)
  8. A repost I know but my fav Cohen song for obvious reasons. Sad loss..
  9. I am not sure Huskys are closely related to Wolves. Mind you, I am not sure they are that closely related to dogs either :-)
  10. Looks like a Husky but I'm a novice in this respect. He's super cute and if he is you will find out soon enough :-)
  11. Nice pics. Lovely day - did 10 miles with the boys. Got some funny looks on the golf course :-)
  12. Someone should repost this every once in a while - just as funny every time
