  1. Cai's responding to antibiotics and all he wants to eat is chicken, so happy, he's slept practically all day and night yesterday and until 11.30 this morning. Luka's missed the play fights but he's been lying beside him, being quiet, felt as though I'd gone deaf for a while. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  2. They are such great companions, my two wake very early and they just want to jump on the bed and they will sleep there for an hour, but they just take up all of the bed! As long as they can see me they're more settled. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  3. He obviously doesn't understand how much she means to you. My Cai had terrible separation anxiety in the beginning, even when it was bed time, so he used to sleep in my bedroom and after two weeks he chose to sleep in the kitchen by the fridge freezer, one problem solved. So everyone has other things to do that means you have to leave them for a while, I started by leaving him in a room, the kitchen, for 10 mins to begin with, then I built it up over time, half an hour and so on. He's 14 months old in April and I can leave him for 2-3 hours without him howling, you can't rush it as they have t
  4. Its worrying isn't it, hope she's ok. The vet was puzzled with Cai, I think sometimes antibiotics are prescribed with the hope things will settle without any real diagnosis. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  5. Thank you, he's not picking up so I'll be back there in the morning, hate it when they're ill, I never thought I'd say I'm missing the 6 am play fighting, at least you know they're well. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  6. Thank you both, I've read and re-read earlier posts so it's clear in my head. I like the look of the x back, it looks like even distribution of pulling on their bodies. I'm just buying ganglines and the extras at the moment, I've just bought new K9 julius harnesses for walking and Luka's a size xxl and he's still growing. 7. Thanks, they're only for walking, makes life so much easier for all of us. I need all the advice I can get regarding the scooter and equipment and what the best harnesses are to buy for pulling, I've looked on snowpaws and they all sound good, best to get advice from people who know. 8. Back from the vets and Cai has a temp of 39.5, vet was surprised as his ears and lymph nodes were fine, heartbeat fine, chest clear, anal glands fine, so antibiotics for 4 days, if not perked up by tomorrow have to take him back for bloods. He was having a good old nosey in the surgery and he ate his treats so she's not overly concerned, [emoji28] Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  9. A local man is selling me his scooter for £150, a bargain, and the training is going really well, good response from Cai and Luka, Cai's not himself at the moment, but he's very quick with following the commands and I've bought dogmatic head collars and leads for both, a necessity in my opinion for the safety of your dogs and yourself, my elbows and shoulders used to hurt before these. Building up the equipment now, loving it. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  10. Mutt, I like that! I use the three monthly flea/tick tabs from the vets. We have an appt at the vets today at 3, he's the complete opposite of himself. A few of my neighbours have dogs but we don't see them, still... something to think about, thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  11. Any advice appreciated. For the last 2 days Cai has seemed depressed, he's eating his food and his stools are normal but he's changed. He's sleeping more than usual, he seems to have no energy at all. I took him for his run yesterday and he wasn't interested, and this is what he loves the most, he's not play fighting with Luka, it's worrying. He's ok on his walks, he's not talking but he's still very loving. I'm confused by this change, I've googled Lyme's disease, no ticks on him, I avoid long grass, but the symptoms seem to fit, any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile a
  12. We'd planned to take Cai and Luka to the forest on Saturday, they love mooching there, changed my mind, going to the beach now! Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  13. I saw a photo of a dog that had it and it was horrendous, it's a flesh eating bacteria and the dog survived for 3 days, if it's caught early enough they stand a better chance. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  14. It seems Alabama rot is on the increase, no known causes, but be vigilant in woodland areas and not to allow your dog to drink from pools of water there. It can kill your dog within days. First signs to look out for, lesions on elbows and knees, diarrhoea, vomiting, listless. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  15. Are you calling him to come back when he's off his lead or just calling him in general? I wouldn't use a shock collar personally, Husky's aren't like regular dogs, they are very intelligent free thinking dogs, training is an ongoing process but they learn quickly. There is no quick fix solution, just time and patience and you will have an amazing companion. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  16. Lol, they act as though they're prisoners hatching an escape plan! They watch ALL the time, especially when I'm cooking..... I say to them any chance you can cook a meal yet! I took them both for a run in an enclosed field, we had permission and thought this would be a great play area, couldn't believe they were casing the perimeter looking for a way out, it wouldn't matter how big an area they had they just want to be free. I often wonder whether males are worse or are females just the same. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  17. Think I'm investing in a dog gate, Luka jumps over, when I say jump, he just flops over it. Cai's definitely the brains behind the outfit. They were having their usual play fight at 6 this morning, sounds more like cats wailing, so up I get and start the distraction plan, treat reward for tricks, but Luka didn't want to sit for his treat, I must have told him 3 times so Cai was sat behind him and pushed his front paw on his back and made him sit, all I need now is for him to discipline my kids. I'd kill for a lie in! Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  18. Cai woke me up this morning at 2.15 to let me know he needed to go outside, nothing unusual about that, except my two sleep in the kitchen and I have a safety gate, so he'd taken the top of the hinged side off, the spring was on the floor, then he lifted the gate off the frame and ran upstairs jumped on my bed and licked my face then ran back down and was waiting by the back door. Not even my kids did that!! Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  19. Looks like the downstairs toilet has a new use, can't wait to put it on the 'boys'. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  20. When I told my other half I was thinking about getting a husky, his arguments ranged from, no you're not, to I won't be walking it with you, still undeterred. What he didn't know was they are a breed I've loved since I was a child and I've waited over 25 years to have them, I've had to wait until I can give them the time they need, and I love every minute of it. It's heartbreaking seeing local Husky's tied up in the garden because no ones home all day, no wonder they try to escape. I was walking Cai and Luka in town and a couple approached me, Luka was only 8 months old, they asked me would I
  21. My two run but only in a fenced safe area, they used to run in local park when they were pups but once they were more interested in catching what was in the park I stopped letting them run there, I'm lucky to have found somewhere for them, not everyone does and there's only one other dog owner that takes his rotty and we've come to an arrangement about times, I don't let mine off together either, they take it in turns and it works really well. 23. Thanks, I've had interest for the future about breeding with Luka, not 100% about that anyway with the amount of dogs that are re-homed, but I think I'd need a DNA test if I ever do, I wouldn't try and fool anyone. He's an amazing dog, the deafness has begun already, they're not naughty just selective! I work on the basis that people are truthful until you know they're not, I'm 50 now and it's still disappointing when people fool you Always safe, I'm a little paranoid and do the 'what if' situations. x Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app
  24. That's Luka this morning, and the face pic was last week on the train. I've had both since they were 8 weeks old, and as Luka's getting older I'm noticing a few differences between the two, not that it matters if he is sibe x mal, but if I knew then I wouldn't have worried unnecessarily, I was taking him to the vets for weight checks, wondering why he was growing at such a rapid rate compared to Cai, they both eat the same amount. Luka's breeder lives in Norfolk and I had alot of contact before I picked him up. Mum and dad are family pets, but I didn't see dad, just pics, he was a rescue, mu
