  1. Dunc, have you read any Tess Gerritsen - the author of the Rizzoli & Isles series. The books are way better than the TV series - really good - highly recommend them
  2. Have you read Zoe Sharp? I have a feature page of her books on my blog. Dunc, you must really try some zombie fiction (if you haven't already) John O'Brien, D J Molles, and James Cook - all have great series. My Blog : http://funwithbooksblog.com/ I am trying to get a new theme to make it more 'professional' so it will probably change in the near future. I don't think any of the books I have reviewed will be to your taste, but have a look on the menu bar at John O'Brien and DJ Molles - I will do a page for james cook when I get some time
  3. Hey Dunc - how you? Are you already at camp? What ya reading ................ write a review for my blog ...... lol Sarah - I saw something on Facebook about you being hurt, wasn't sure what happened but hope you are okay and will be ready for camp. Nix - I have been keeping up with you on FB, so glad you are happy and that your beautiful pack is doing well. Skyla takes my breath away, such a beautiful girl. Linda - when are you coming to visit me ?
  4. These are the jars I am doing today, plus the one on the table which I am busy on ...... they still need their beads and tags to be attached. This is my little engraving station. This was a learning experience. When I got the contract we went out and bought a very expensive (to me) Dremel work table with clamps and stuff to hold the jars - but it didn't work, I needed to be able to rotate the jar as I worked. After days of frustration I eventually took an ice cream tub put a towel in and it is perfect - cost .... zilch Live and learn. I also needed water - glass dust is dangerous stuff, when it gets into the lungs it stays there until the day you die. So, Monty put together a water dispenser using a plastic container and a submersible fish tank pump to pump drip water onto the piece I am busy on. I also wear magnifying glasses and a dust filtration mask - I look like a survivor on a toxic Post Apocalyptic earth when I wear it - but safety first, vanity second. No Linda .... no photos I took this quick pic of the two of them sleeping - Ozzy lying half on and half off  As you can see, nothing has changed I still talk too much
  5. The light is shining at the end of the tunnel It has been a long time since I have posted on the forum. I still checked in on a regular basis - but as a guest so that I didn't get distracted and start posting, we all know how addictive this place can be lol. Anyway, I have been really, really busy in the studio. I got a contract to make recycled 'treat' bottles for a local organic pet shop. It has been hectic - especially as I only started engraving a few months ago. I am using old Nescafe coffee bottles, engraving on them, mostly wolf type stuff and paw prints, but enough is enough, now I am taking a short break. Oh yes, I also started a book blog as a hobby, that is a lot of fun, but where to find the time ............... I usually read at night when I can't work in the studio (noise) and play on the blog at about 2am and then crash Ozzy and Micah are doing well - I adore my huskies Micah is doing really well. We decided to not do the hip replacement and monitor her 24/7. She is also on the Vitamin C that Gigi mentioned in a post a while back - the improvement in her movement and pain levels has has been truly amazing, she is such a special little girl. I see a lot of new members and lots and lots of gorgeous huskies, welcome to everyone.
  6. Hi - just want to say I hope you all have a wonderful time on camp. This time of the year is always an exciting time for us who live on the other side of the world too as we can look forward to seeing all the photos, so don't forget - LOTS OF PHOTOS please. Have a great time - we will be thinking of you all, and all the gorgeous huskies having a blast
  7. Congratulations Sarah :-) Sometimes it is necessary to move on and leave the comfortable behind and grab new challenges with both hands. Wish you all the best :-)
  8. Sally, my daughter has a gas stove with two electrical ovens and it is amazing Some Italian make ............ I would love one too
  9. I am reading Killer Instinct by Zoë Sharp
  10. She is adorable :-) Lovely photos
  11. She is gorgeous Andy, lovely photos :-)
  12. Saw this on a news feed. RIP Clive ........... I still listen to Maiden almost every day and I love Nicko who replaced him, but he was great.
  13. My poor stove is 25 years old and is also on its way out. It still looks new, but one plate has only one temp and that's high, and the oven doesn't regulate the temp properly so I cant bake :-( But I can't get a new one now so have to make do. It has given good service though, so I am not complaining too much ............
  14. That's great - I must still get the series ....................... sigh
  15. I love to read, and read about 15 books a month on average, sometimes more, and sometimes a lot more I love music, mostly rock/metal, I have listed this as a hobby because it takes up quite a lot of my time lol. I love glass, so have a small stained glass studio at home and am now learning how to engrave on glass, it is slow going though, as it is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. I also play around with wood engraving. That's about it ........
  16. Micah has now been on Solgar Ester-C Plus for 10 days and the results have been amazing, to say the least. Over the last few days we have watched her slowly starting to move around a lot more and today, finally, she is playing with Oz. I don't think I have ever seen her, and Ozzy so happy She is currently on 2000mg/day and we will start decreasing the amount until she is stable on 1000mg/day. Thank you Gigi

    Control

We had the same problem. I am a stay-at-home husky mom, so I am boss :-) but my husband does not like correcting the huskies, so they know they can do pretty much whatever they like around him (if I am not around). The only thing I can suggest is that your wife needs to take control of whatever is happening, even when you are home, if she does something she is not supposed to do, your wife must correct her, every time, and not stop because the husky will not listen. She must be consistent all the time - if she gives in to the husky once, the husky rules the house. My huskies have a few rules they have to follow in the house. Outside we only have one rule - if you want to dig, dig in the sand box, not the lawn :-) I have never had to train a dog so when the huskies were runnung wild, it was either train them or be miserable, and I found that consistency 100% of the time was the only thing that worked, but you and your wife and everyone in the home must follow the same guidelines. They are extremely intelligent (but stubborn) and once they realise they will not get away with something they will stop. Good luck :-)
  18. That is super cute, it looks as if she is taking her responsibility very seriously :-)
  19. Oh my goodness, he is gorgeous
  20. A Capetonian Welcome to the forum, your little girl and your husky are both adorable Good to have you here and look forward to more photos
  21. I think if it has been like that for a week maybe you should take him to see the vet. Micah has HD, and is stiff at times and has a slight limp when she gets up, but when she plays or chases after something, you would never think she is in any pain. They are very much a 'mind over matter' breed and seem to be mentally stronger than most other breeds I have come across, so when they display any signs of discomfort or pain, I would worry too because they carry on as if nothing can or must get in the way of FUN so they tend to ignore pain or discomfort which can worsen any problem they may have. Good luck, and let us know how he is doing.
  22. I will try and take a good photo of our tank to show you :-)
  23. Fr Carmen, I was so happy when your name came up in the new posts, but am so sad to read about your, and your pack's, loss. RIP Apollo, run free with those who have gone bbefore you. I hope you and the rest of your pack are well :-)
  24. I have the exact same ship in my tank - but my tank is full of mostly Malawis and some pre-historic looking creatures. I don't know the name of most of the fish, I just buy what looks pretty or strange I keep telling my OH to take some of the 'stuff' out of the tank to give them space, but as soon as we do the Malawis start fighting - they seem to like a tank full of hiding places.
