  2. It's an official husky what? For nearly a decade now, we have been running an official husky camp for our forum members. This is a chance for people to get to meet in person, and for many a holiday that is easier to do with the dogs. This is done in a way that both people and huskies can enjoy. It was started originally as a way to get around it being difficult to have a holiday with dogs, and make it easier to enjoy due to everyone around you also having dogs of their own. When is it? Husky camp for 2019 will run from Friday 10th-17th May (Friday to Friday) Where is it? The Meadows (this is the field we are generally on, but just ask for where the husky group is staying) Ty Mawr Holiday Park Conwy LL2 9HG How do I book? You can book through their website, which is here https://www.parkdeanresorts.co.uk/location/wales/ty-mawr/ Ring this number to book for some reason the website is playing up there are caravans available 01745832079 (Say you're with the Husky Owner's Forum; they may be in The Meadows Field, but check. ) Is it just like a 'dog convention' type thing? Far from it LOL. Whenever I explain to people what husky camp is, in the shortest amount of words possible, it tends to be this. We go for walks and stuff during the day, enjoy food together, and generally have a good drink at night. We're about as far from being some boring convention as you could possibly get LOL. Are there many of you go? Am I welcome? Can I bring my partner etc We have had as many as 130 people at camp, and as little as 10. As you can see from that alone, the numbers can vary wildly. No need to ask if you are welcome at camp! Of course you are welcome! partners etc also welcome. All we ask is that you are responsible for the people that you bring (we are respected for being a good set of people, who are clean and tidy at camp, and don't cause trouble), adhere to camp rules, and generally don't give the site a bad name. What facilities are there? Electric hook up Static caravan hire or camping Shower and toilet blocks Eating places on and around camp Swimming pool Play area for the kids if you have any Wifi on site Where do you walk? What do you do? Just to give you a very brief idea of the kinds of things we do, based on years gone by. Some of which we do each year (of course not all). Beach walk Alyn Waters walk Talacre point walk Llandudno walk along the front Aber falls Newborough Forest - Anglesea Pensarn beach Conwy Castle / Conwy walk Sun Set walk Secure offload where all the dogs can be set free to let off some energy Meal over at the local restaurant BBQs done by Barry (small charge to cover costs between us) Breakfasts done by Dunc & Andy (small charge to cover costs between us) Camp fire and drinks at night Adult style pass the parcel (Yes, this really happens, and it hilarious!) Added a few pics here for people who haven't been before, to give you an idea. And also a video of the offlead, which is always fun
  3. Just want to clear up a few things here, as there are some parts of this which I think are being misunderstood. Nix offered her opinion on this, because that is exactly what was asked for. There is little point in asking for an opinion if its a case of 'I don't like the answer'. There are a few things here people don't seem to understand about genetics, and different breeds, so hopefully this may help Seppala Husky - Technically, thats everyones dog here who has a Siberian husky. Its the name of the breeder, where its said the breed originally came from. So essentially, there is no such thing. There is just a Siberian husky. Seppela sled dog - This is also technically not a breed. They are what tends to be used in serious sled dog racing. They are a mix of breeds which are specifically selected for in order to maximise the capabilities of what you are looking for in a dog (bred for power, or speed, or intelligence etc) Agouti Husky - This is basically a Siberian husky, which is darker in colour, due to a higher level of eumelanin. If you were buying a human, you may as well be saying "I have a red head human" or "I have an Indian". Genetic testing - Most of the genetic tests you go for within general peoples budget, are money spinners. They will give you a general idea, but many will not come out the same. There is actually an ongoing genome project for dogs in which is not yet complete, so technically even an expert could not be 100% accurate. They can however through lineages etc. Research - As already mentions briefly by Nix, she has been reading books on the subject. These are a good source of reference if you go to the right places, and also research the authors. If you are reading things around the internet, you are likely to get incorrect information and treat it as fact. Just to emphasise that fact, if you look around at our site, look at how many people state something which is simply incorrect. Once you have done that, check how well we rank for the word Siberian husky, and that particular issue. We're probably quite high. As a forum with over a million posts, and masses of information, you would certainly be forgiven for thinking we are a source of reference. Lastly, chill out people FFS LOL. We're a forum for like minded owners of huskies. Not a company, Not a breeders site, not a working site, but a forum built by husky owners, for husky owners. (Honestly, I know, I built it! LOL). @Jaylo - In answer to your original question. I have no idea what breed. He looks like he may be a mix, but then I have seen many many huskies that I would have said the same about and been incorrect. The only 100% accurate way in which to find out is to try and track his family tree. At some point you will likely find club records from breeders. At that point, you will know. Either way, he is lovely so who cares!

    World Cup?

We'll still probably lose, because, well, we just do LOL
  5. Not from the pub no LOL And actually, in our house, it would be quite possible for that to happen whilst we are at the other side of the house, and not hear it.
  6. Apple products being overpriced actually depends on what you're buying. I have an iMac, and I can tell you now that to buy the same kit, like for like, it would cost me more to buy a windows based PC. With the computers, its actually a fallacy that they are more expensive than other PCs. If you buy a PC with the same spec, it will actually cost you more. Prime example is the iMac 5k that I have. You look up a 27" 5k screen, and that alone will cost you 1k, and thats without even starting with the computer. The phones are over priced, which is why I have a Galaxy S8. I do wish I'd stayed with an iPhone though, just because of the l level of integration you get between the phone and Mac.
  7. Im actually going to repair it .... Watch this space, this could be genius or a complete disaster lol

    World Cup?

Good race today so far too
  9. Well, I guess this is behaviour LOL Went out for a drink last night with a few friends, and got a phonecall from my Daughter to say Koda had "Got out of his crate". Well, that was an understatement Seems he didn't like crate last night. Or the carpet, or the bookshelf, or @Sarahs crochet stuff. Time to get some DIY on the go me thinks.

    What series?

So, we're at the end of our latest series, and looking for something new to watch. Let us know which series you are currently watching, or recommend one you have watched! For us, its been greys anatomy lately, and its spinoff series Station 19. If you haven't watched these, have a watch. Greys anatomy specifically is really addictive. We've not watched the last series yet, as we're waiting for it to finish before watching so that we're not waiting from one week to the next lol

    World Cup?

Anyone else watching the World Cup? If so, who do you think will win? I don't usually watch football at all (soccer to you guys over the pond), but I do tend to watch the World Cup when its on. Just watched the England game, and now watching my F1. First for me having a day of sport, as I don't tend to watch much sport in general other than my F1.
  12. Just thinking about how people browse the site, so I thought I would just ask the question. Sure I could probably look at stats, but thats just not as much fun So what do you have that you browse the site with? Personally, I use one of 3 iMac - I spend most of my day on this, and so generally this is what I use to browse and post on the site. MacBook Pro - Don't always want to sit on my desktop, so will often sit in the living room on my laptop. Galaxy S8 - I do often use the husky owners app for android. Tends to be more for browsing than actually posting personally, although I know there are many who use it for posting.
  13. Well, not exactly goodbye LOL. Emma has decided to step down as moderator on the forum due to lack of time at the moment. Would just like to say thank you for your work on the site during your time as moderator Hope to see you stick around of course
