Breeding a wooly with a standard coat wont cancel out the wooly , my girl is a wooly and both her parents were standard coats, its not just coat either, your dog and the bitch would need both hip/elbow and eye scoring and have a low enough score to make sure you're not passing anything hereditary down the line , this isnt something your normal vet can do and they do need to go to a specialist, he will also need to be breed standard (despite the coat) and kennel club registered, I'm not sure where you are in the world but here rescues are absolutely bursting at the seams full of Huskies, some specific husky rescues cant take any more in because they're so full theres a lot more to it then just putting a dog and a bitch together and hoping for the best, the sire owner has as much responsibility as the Dams owner with regards to If she needs an emergency c-section or to be on call in the middle of the night/early hours of the morning when she goes into labour , they're also just as responsible if down the line a pup owner cant keep their dog you would have to take them back on and you cant always guarantee dad and pup will get on down the line , he wont remember it's his pup we all love our dogs and would all love to have a part of them to carry on their legacy and remember them by but i don't think breeding is the way to go in doing it , no 2 Huskies are ever the same

So guys, we have a new feature on the site. Husky of The Month! Now before you say we already had that...... well ..... kinda. It was all done through posts and a manual job. Now however we have a full section dedicated to husky of the month entries and voting, which is automatically done. You will find a link in the menu for this. Please submit yourself an entry, and let us know if you have any problems of feedback. This months will be a generic photo one, so no theme Would love you take credit for this one, but all credit goes to Andy at https://doglymail.com/ who have kindly provided us with the application to do this.

The rescue centre contacted me to say he arrived at his new home around 12.30 - they immediately took him to a secure dog park where he started to get to know the rest of his pack and he had a ball romping around and chasing them. Evidently he is already making up to the woman of the house - exactly the way he did with me ............... the tart! We packed him off with a new collar, new lead, a kilo of beef chunks, enough bones for 5 big dogs, a litre of water and a food bowl, several tins of sardines - he loves them for breakfast, and a ball on a rope. I have a feeling he is going to fit in just fine.

Good luck sorting the motors @DanUK I see @robke has made it across the channel and is now driving on the correct side of the road. Dog food and Stella packed and caravan on charge with fridge on. Swearing involved as couldn’t find the power adapter last night so bought a new one. They only had EU ones so modified it last night. Went to plug it in just now, couldn’t find it anywhere. 20 mins later and I found the original one before the new one. Dumbass (Ares) and Lucy know we are packing and won’t leave my side, going to be very disappointed tonight as they are going to vets not camp. #badhuskydad Lucy is blowing, but it’s not coming out, can you all take turns brushing her? See you all Thursday or Friday

Hi everyone, we are Jon and Martine from just outside Fort William. We have Tehya an 8yr old husky x GSD and today we have just got a companion for her, Tala a Siberian husky, we pick her up on Tuesday after her microchip and vaccinations, she is 9 weeks old and we are looking forward to the sleepless nights of house training. We are both long time dog owners but are both new to the joys and woes of Siberian ownership so may be calling on your collective knowledge from time to time lol

A quick update for you all, SHE HAS EATEN. Almost 3 weeks with no food at all 7 weeks with very little. Thanks Mazz think you got it. Pining. One of the pack had been moved out and we think, although you wouldn't believe it if you saw them together, that she was missing her. Brought her back for a visit and little Nishka has eaten. Now we know what the problem is we can fix it. Thanks to everyone for your input.

Hi and welcome to the forum. She’s gorgeous. Love her different eye colours. I have recently gone through exactly what you are going through with my puppy Luna. We got her at nearly 6 weeks old and I have cried, felt like I was going mad and thought that getting her was a mistake. She was biting, leaving cuts all over my hands and face, she constantly needed attention and put a strain on my relationship with my boyfriend. However she is now 15 weeks old and the majority of the biting has stopped, I get way more kisses and she’s just a fluffy cuddle monster lol. I love her to bits and couldn’t imagine life without her. She has so much personality. No way am I experienced in husky ownership but just some advice from what worked with me. Don’t shout or use any force with her. Use positive reinforcement. Whenever she bit I would give her a toy to bite and praise her. When she got to much, I put her in the kitchen in timeout. She cried for a while but now when I put her in she is silent and comes out after a few minutes calmed down. Since yours is a puppy then I wouldn’t recommend running with her. Too strenuous on their growing joints. The rule is, 5 minutes of exercise per month of their age. So walk her for 10 mins a day outside or 15 when she’s 3 months etc. I would recommend taking her outside (carrying her until she’s had her jabs and can go outside). Getting her used to noise, smells, other people. If you can then take her to puppy class. Also teach her to wait, leave, sit etc. Use treats. She will pick it up quickly. Luna at 12 weeks could sit, give both paws, wait, go in basket, lie down etc. It feels like a bad decision at the minute for you but stick with it and she will get much better and will make the best companion. Huskies are amazing dogs but for first time owners, they can be overwhelming. Any other questions then just ask. Oh and one more thing. You will want to feed her good quality food. A lot of food is bad for huskies. Stay away from anything that contains wheat, grain, beet pulp etc. They are fillers and no good for your fur baby. I feed mine on puppy Taste of the Wild. One of the best food you can get. Not the cheapest but well worth it in the long run. Post some more pics and hello from me and Luna Thanks Amanda p.s you won’t believe hope quickly she will grow lol. Pic of Luna now at 15 weeks and at 7 weeks haha

Sorry to hear that, I lost a baby last year too before I had the baby I have now. I think that’s what started it off with Astro, he could sense me and my boyfriend were grieving, he was a very sensitive dog and I think it affected him more than I realised at the time. Then I got pregnant again and I was very anxious throughout my whole pregnancy, again I think he picked up on this because I noticed he wasn’t his usual self at all. I never thought rehoming would be an option for me, he was my world too! But when he started to go for my other dog right next to the baby, and a few other things, I had to do what was best for him and from what I’ve heard he’s loving his new foster home and I’m just happy that he’s happy again. I would sack the vet off and look for a good behaviourist, antibiotics aren’t going to help the underlying issues Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners

Years ago I rescued an ex racing greyhound that was left in a cage to starve to death - never known anything but cages and running. When he came home he could not go downstairs - had never seen any before so we had to carry him. He immediately found the smallest darkest corner and stayed there. We put food and water near him - but if we got too close he would just shake in fear. Beacuse we did not want to manhandle him to go upstairs we put up with two days of pee and poo in our lounge - then on the third day of us ignoring him completely, but being in the same room as him - hubby went upstairs for a cuppa - and when he came back down he was surprised to see Benson sitting next to me on the settee. Once we were alone we just looked at each other and he just got up and came and sat next to me - it seemed as if he had finally made up his mind that we were ok people and nothing bad was going to happen to him with us. Hubby went and sat on the floor for the rest of the night. It was a long road with him - firstly teaching him to go up and down stairs, then meeting other people, - he remained so terrified of young children that for the rest of his life (another 8 years) he would wet himself if a child came close to him. He did however bloom - and in his own environment (in our case it was a hotel) he blossomed and became a quiet character much loved by the guests - the most notable was Bruce Forsyth (yep that bang you heard was a name drop) - who on seeing him spreadout on the bar seating late one night exclaimed "Love the legs - LOVE the legs" Patience, understanding, and more patience - your new pup needs to learn to trust you - before she can learn to trust anything else. Dont go and stroke her - wait for her to come to you. Good Luck - it is a challenge I know from experience - but the rewards are enormous.

Hi there, Pedigree is an awful quality food, the main ingredient is cereal which is no good for a dog and the second main ingredient is animal derivatives which is whatever they can scrape together after all the good bits have been taken! A hypoallergenic food would be best especially if your dog has diarrhoea. Scales are definitely a good investment to make sure you are giving the correct amount, the number of cups given varies between different brands. My scales were only about £10 Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners
