  2. We have a wonderful 3 month old husky... but we keep getting comments that she looks mixed.. any ideas? we did not get papers bc it didn't really matter to us. breeder said both parents were huskies but the female mom had no papers.... colors are red, white, black

  3. She is not a mix. She is Sable with bars pure husky. Husky come in more colors then people think. I would ignore them [emoji2] Sent from my [device_name] using http://Husky Owners mobile app

  4. Did they say why they thought she was mixed? Obviously without paperwork it’s impossible to say for sure but she looks like a husky to me, she’s a red to boot. Beautiful colour. [emoji7] Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners

  5. I’m also wondering how long you have you had your second husky? It can take a while for them to adjust and admittedly not all dogs will get along, however that’s down to a clash in personality rather than anything else. If they’re playing fine sometimes then fighting another time then I would have thought that would suggest it’s not full on dislike of each other but something is triggering it off: over excitement can lead to aggression, possession/ownership of food/toys/people etc... as others have suggested a behaviourist would be a good idea as they can see what’s going on and teach you how to overcome it. Any time a new pack member enters the family, it throws everything up into the air and an order needs to be re established. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners

  6. How long have you had them both for? My 2 used to fight over food and toys when I first got them, but they don't anymore, it took a few months for it to stop! They don't have toys anymore, I just give them a Kong each when they are in their crates, and I feed them at opposite ends of the kitchen Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners

  7. I wouldn't completely ignore her as she'll need to be let out to toilet during the night but and you'll learn to recognise the different cries if she's just doing it for attention then I'd ignore that, as u also doing training during the day too? That way when she's quiet and you go to let her out she'll learn that once she's quiet that's when she gets attention Sent from my [device_name] using http://Husky Owners mobile app

  8. ive been looking at these raised style beds since zen was a puppy, i figured it would be a good option for outside in the summer. last summer she would lay on a pool lounge chair made of similar material at my parents, so i knew this bed wohldnt be a waste. suprise! they went on sale on amazon for almost half price! i looked into the coolaroo brand and they seemed to be pretty high in quality and always near the top of the list when i google these types of beds. the large one was on sale so i got that one. zen is like 56lbs, she can lay and stretch out and still have room to spare! it seems quite sturdy the miracle is she left the couch to go lay on it! (and she's become quite the couch hog!) she loves it! its definately a good buy

  9. Is there any trigger that starts it off? Your best bet might be to get a behaviourist in who can actually see the dogs interacting Sent from my [device_name] using http://Husky Owners mobile app

  11. There were a few bits in snow dogs that I wasn’t too pleased with but overall I quite liked that one. I gotta admit I’m a sucker for 8 below. I always end up crying my eyes out which is a pain in the rear as it gets in the way of ogling Paul Walker. Damn you crying eyes! Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners

  14. There are dominance issues with my 2 at times, they’ve had 3 fights up to now, blood was drawn on one occasion. So last year I spent time watching them play and looking out for the triggers and once I’d realised the point at which their play became too aggressive I introduced 2 words ‘what’s this’ and gave them a small treat, I did this in the house and on walks so now if they’re becoming too aggressive I say ‘what’s this’ and they immediately stop fighting and come to me, they don’t always get a treat sometimes it’s a squeaky toy or I’ll play ball with them. It’s about redirecting their aggression. Hope you find a solution [emoji3] Mental stimulation works as well, but I usually do that before I can see that one or both of them wants to play fight. 15. Look at how they play before it becomes an issue there is something one of them is doing?? Sly and Maliki use to have terrible fights because Sly couldn't figure out how to play with Maliki. Maliki is very intolerant of adolescent females trying to do things she doesn't approve off. What they are doing is finding which one is more dominant. If you can't watch it work on them separate them in different cages in the same place looking at each other not side by side. Take them out one at a time for a while. Then slowly work them back together. Sent from my [device_name] using http://Husky Owners mobile app Toys with two dogs or more is never a good idea. Mine don't play with toys when they go to play together. Dont leave anything on the floor. If you want them to play with toys make them lay down with their toys in separate places. 17. I got one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pawhut-Elevated-Pet-Sleep-Bed-Dog-Cat-Cool-Cot-Home-Outdoor-Folding-Portable-M/381929634150?hash=item58ecc7b966:g:g~cAAOSwA3dYgFQ9 Hoping that Lunar would use it to get off the laminate flooring for his old bones, - but no all its used for is for Marley to stand on it to better see out of the lounge window - he no longer has to stand on his hind legs to see out ! Still hoping that one of them will eventually work out what it is for - they both seem to prefer my settee - neither use the two seater settee (which was meant for them) they want my 3 seater of course!

  18. Give her something that smells of you , a t-shirt or a pillow case or something it should help settle her but it will take time for her to get used to it she's still only a baby Sent from my [device_name] using http://Husky Owners mobile app

  26. Huskies typically need less than some other breeds as they’re more resourceful and are supposed to be lean dogs naturally so if you’re following the guide then it’s not that likely you’ll be underfeeding but if you’re visibly seeing their ribs then you know they’re Underweight and need more food. You should be able to feel them if you press against them but not obviously see them. Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners

  31. i have a 6ft police lead on my walking belt for the streets and a 50ft lunging line for the big fields so Darwin can "roam" I have the lunging line on my walking belt too so that if darwin gets a run up from 50ft behind to 50ft in front he isn't going to dislocate my shoulder or wrist as he hits the end at full speed.

  32. I use a normal 6 ft leash for everyday use also, but I like the longer leashes for potty training (so the pup has room to move around without me right behind her, while not having access to the entire yard) and off-leash training, and "off-leash" walks. Where I live there are lots of back roads and open fields that I usually like taking my dogs on walks at, and I like giving them more room to explore on these walks. Just simple walks around town, taking them somewhere, etc I will use a normal leash. I would eventually like to train this pup and one of my other dogs (Shiloh) to pull a small sled, and would use a training leash to do so. Over time I will probably pick up a few different sizes. I have a 15 ft one right now, will probably get a 50 ft one off amazon and go from there.

  37. I use either a 30ft or a 50ft when training off leash or sled commands in the circle arena they seem to respond to it very nicely. What exactly are you training?? I don't use them for everyday use I only use them to train. I use a normal leash for everyday use. Sent from my [device_name] using http://Husky Owners mobile app
