Took the dogs for a training run tonight as too warm in the early to mid afternoon time. we did a casual run tonight but sisko likes to sprint most of the time, puts so much effort into her work, mishka stayed on the sidelines & watched as not very well. watching the cattle in other field The staggered lines work great , no messing around.

To those that went to crufts this year - what was it like and what were your experiences? I didn't get a chance to go this year and have never been so just interested to know what those that went thought of it?

Hi, I was just wondering where everyone took their dogs for training if they did. I took my boy training yesterday for the first time yesterday. He is 15month now and I am wishing I had took him earlier and want to smack my own hands lol. It was one of those things I meant to do but other things got in the way and I thought he would be fine as long as I did training with him myself at home and followed "The Dog Whisperer's advice. Anyway, he has recently started growing at other dogs and so I decided I better take him so that the situation would not get worse, plus I wanted him to be able to socialise with more dogs. He used to get on with other dogs really well. Im not s…

My mother is unable to work and is going to try to get disability. She has moved in with my husband and I. She brought with her, a cat and her shih tzu. She was going to take her "yard dog" to the pound. that yard dog, being a husky mix (maybe full blooded?) I decided that I would take him and try to make me a family pet. I have had this dog for 4 hours. He is pacing back and fourth, marking everything including my dogs and water bowls! and he jumps up on you so bad it is like he is trying to climb up your head! I am already feeling a bit frustrated, but I know its not the poor dogs fault. This is the first time he has ever been off of a chain in his 4 years of…

Hey everyone-I don't want to re-start the argument on a previous thread about letting a husky off the lead, however I hated not being able to let Ozzy off his on the beach yesterday (have read a lot of info on them running and running and not coming back-and to be honest as we haven't had him that long I wouldn't be confident that he'd know my voice anyway) but I was reading the other thread and saw that some people had 50ft and 100ft leads-where did you get these from and are they expensive? My husky is quite strong even though he's young so I don't want to just get a normal extendable lead because I think he'd just snap it. I look forward to hearing from you D…

I'd love to get a sled one day, and we're lucky that we have a good few long, sandy beaches nearby. In my world of logic I would think that a sled would work better on the sand than a scooter or rig does, but would it? Sand is fairly similar to snow and ice for the runners? The only problem I could see really would be stopping, don't know if the brake would dig in enough. Has anyone ever tried a sled on sand, or do you think it would work?

I'm currently taking roller blading classes because I wanted to try roller-jorring. But I'm starting to realize that its a lot harder than it looks and may not be that fun rolling into cars or constantly falling on my a$$ . A few of you pointed out that I was a little crazy and I'm finally coming to grips with the fact that I'm balance-challenged . So, I thought how about a kit buggy (http://www.decathlon...-buggy-3301345/) It would be awesome on the beach, but a slight pain to carry (17KG+) to Morocco, taking more than half my weight allowance and possibly raising questions at customs. So then, why not a Mountainboard (http://www.decathlon...rkb-r2-3301298/)?! I…

Myshka is now on countdown to going to the vets to be speyed ..... no food or drink till it's over, poor girl - I'm really not looking forward to taking her (that's assuming she can be done, if her phantom pregnancy has finished!). Taking her in for 9am, where a vet will assess her & say Yay or Nay! Will also be thinking of Sabre who is booked to be "fixed" too, hope all goes well for you, too, xxxx

I have always been led to believe that I don't need a permit to run on a scooter or bike anywhere... But... At the rally last saturday me and Chez were told to train at Thetford or Rendlesham, but were told that we did need a permit from the forestry commission to use a scooter.... Does anyone know the truth??

Having read this on the Snowpaw Store website - I am now slightly confused! I was under the impression that public liability insurance was needed to run the dogs on a scooter if they are pulling (which obviously they would be), but according to this I don't. If i've read this correctly (which i may not have) I can use a scooter in many different places, and only need public liability insurance for a rig!

ok.... HOW on earth do you teach on by properly???? kira's brilliant if we're on pavement or dirt (we go for a couple of minutes on pavement to get home) but if we're on grass she CONSTANTLY has her nose down.... she'll listen about 30% of the time, and is great if she's got someone to run after, but obviously i cant have someone run around a track at a rally.... so... can anyone help me teach it properly?? .......... ....... .... .. . please? lol

on the way to my mums tonight (which is where we are now) we saw an absolutely gorgeous sibe, sort of wolf coloured (if anyones seen chez's skye he was a bit like that but bigger lol) I sneakily caught up and cut them off to say hi lmao and we had a chat, I asked her if she'd ever ran him in harness and she said no but she'd really like to give it a go, so i gave her my number and now im just waiting for a text from her we should be meeting up once kira's finished her season (he had balls lol) and so we'll soon see if kira runs better with a partner! Do you reckon it's likely that she will become more focused if shes running with a partner?? I hope…

For today's training run I knew Ronan would be far too interested in Jill to risk putting them next to eachother being she is in standing heat. That left me with a dilemma. I couldn't put Ronan up front on his own because there would be no one to keep him steady and ahead if he caught too strong of a scent from Jill. OC is terrible for wanting to hold Ronan back in speed and with Ronan's distraction of Jill he wouldn't keep on ahead like he normally does. That left Tundra who is only 1 year old, limited experience in harness and never having run lead for me. What's the worse that could happen though, right? *sarcasm* So I hooked everyone up and off we went!!!! Didn't take…

Couple of weeks ago I got offered a dog scooter and eqipment for a really cheap price, went to have alook and it all seemed in good nick and totally worth it, so I bought it! Although Nukka is only 7 months I've been teaching her mushing terms from our first walks out together and shes doing really well, however not fully developed yet so didnt want to risk hurting her growth by scootering with her to soon. Therefore have descided to start off easy just getting her to jog with me a little and pull me up hills and whatnot, well..... Nukka and I just got back from our first succesful Mushing Jog! Got the scooter harness on her and the bungee cord attaced to …

Just after picking someone's brains really. I understand that if you rescue a Husky through SHCGB you get a welfare number that enables you to race with them. What happens if you rescue a husky that didn't come through SHCGB? Is there any way one can race? Also I would imagine this would be quite taboo but is there anyway of racing with a Huskamute. I get the impression this is very frowned upon that the dog wouldn't be one or the other but I am looking at the poor love, and she is sooooo pretty, but we would really start like to start working a dog and so it would be foolish of me to think of offering a home to a dog that we wouldn't be able to race. Any opi…

So far with Shadow we've never gone biking or scootering, but now we have two its something I'd like to look into. Obviously Vixens too youn to do to long walks or too much but thought it would be ideal to get her used to the idea by taking them biking. So can someone tell me the what I need, how to do it idiots guide.... Thanks xxx
