Hi all, hope you are all well. I have a question about micro-chipping. How old was your husky when you had him/her micro-chipped? My husky, Hiko, is 6 months old now and i've been told by a friend to get him done now. My concern though is that he is already the size of many fully grown huskies and still has a lot to go and if i have him micro-chipped now it will move around before he is fully grown. Any advice or thoughts are welcomed. Thanks

Hi all I have booked my 3 boys in to be done on Thursday 19th june. Now being a softy with them I am petrified. I have heard that siberians react differently to anaesthetic and don't need as much is that true? If you have had your husky neutered how did you get through the day waiting for a phone call? I am going to be in bits....which is one of the reasons why am having all 3done at the same time sent via husky howls from my mobile

Hi All Tula is now 7 months or so and we are a little worried about her not filling out, she has always been boney and skinny since we got her at 17 weeks but after feeding her twice a day she still looks skinny! She has grown she is now as tall as my 11 year old black lab very skinny and you can feel all her ribs and hips. I am feeding her on high protien puppy food chicken & rice from Throphy foods which is around 30% protien. Any advise would be much appreciated as George our other Sibie is very health 27KG 2 year old male. Stuart

So I found out today that Orion has Round Worms. He and Shi both just got their medications, but Orion has probably had them for a while and I didn't know (there was nothing in his stool). He'd been having diarrhea but I thought it was the food I was giving him. So now he's a bit underweight. Is there anything "special" I should do for him? Give him extra food, give him cooked steak or liver or chicken, or should I just give him regular feedings? Because I had thought it was his food I just started him on rice and pumpkin and was going to add chicken today (didn't have any yesterday when I started) so should I add his regular food gradually or would he be…

I'd love any input please on Indy that has come back into us. A bit of background: When I first started Irish Sled Dog Welfare at the end of last year, the first dog that came in was a Malamute, then I went and collected a lovely 4 year old sibe bitch and her two 6 week old puppies from a pound, they'd been surrendered. Apparently they were hand reared, I don't know why, but the bitch had a ceaserean, so I guess possibly rejected them. THe mum is definitely a PB sibe, stunning girl (very happily rehomed now, and spoilt rotten:)) and we were told the dad is a GSD, which I would agree with, as you can see it in both pups. They were fostered with a couple for a…

Hey everyone, hope all is well If anyone remembers i've been on a pretty big mission for helping Honey lose weight. Lately, it just doesn't seem to be happening, she looks, to me, just as big and just as unhealthy. I changed her diet and increased exercise, but it's not making any difference. She's been checked over by the vets and doesn't have any medical reasons to be so over weight. Does anyone know of any extra help i can muster up for helping her? anything i can add into her food? Honeys exercise/ food Everyday: I go for a nice long walk with her in the morning - usually takes us an hour and half, depending on how fast we're …

My vet charges £45 just to see them in addition I need to pay for the treatment ( not sure of that cost) is there any over the counter treatment that we can get instead? I don't mind if they are expensive but less then £50. How effective is over the counter treatments and is it worth it? Thank you x

I am dog sitting for a fried- we always watch their Jack russell. Well this time she had some bumps on her muzzle and in her ears before she came to our house. Her owners took her to the vet and she gave them some clovomax and some "neosporin-like" ear gel... Obviously this isnt working because 3 days later- its like this. The Vet doesnt know what it is, she thought it was bacterial- I thought it was some kind of allergic reaction... Chloe is itching and crying and now its in her lips too- she cant eat her kibble, so I am making her boiled rice and chicken. Please- has anyone delt with this before- her ears are horrible but her muzzle is the worst. BTW- I have…

Some of you are aware that my dog had an operation on friday to have a lump removed. He totally freaked out when we put the cone on him so have tried different things to prevent him from licking - 1 T shirt covering his bottom with legs through the arm holes and tail through the neck, but he managed to get this off. 2 A towel gaffer taped around his neck, which he was comfortable with and meant he could not reach his stitches, but we worried that it would make him too hot, and 3 An inflatable ring around his neck, which he also does not mind but have to keep inflating it and he can still reach his stitches when it goes down a bit. I have been off work…

Hi everyone, I am needing some advise please as I'm starting to worry, we've noticed in the last week that Mishka's appetite has greatly increased, she is eating a lot. Her mammary gland have started to enlarge and ''drop'', and she is now lactating, it is coming out quite easily, a little pinch and it comes out.. Her behaviour has also changed, she is even more ''cuddly'' than usual (basically sticks to us like glue) at times and at other times she ignores us and looks a bit depressed. She had her season around May. I will be taking her to the vet this week, but wanted your opinions first Here are some pictures of her mammary glands and the milk?

I've used Advocate for 2 months now. Its the combined flea and worming treatment placed on the skin. Although it is quite effective on fleas i still find the odd one on Elka. I use Frontline on the cat which seems to do the job. Whats peoples experiences/opinions on Advocate please?

I've never been more excited about poo. She's been having a lot of semi-solid poos for a while now, since i've been adding the new food and slowly phasing out EVIL BAKERS BRAND FOOD. Shes on Wainright's Turkey and Rice right now, but I'm going to buy her the Salmon and Potato one i think next. Seems good at the moment i'll let you know if it carries on. Also got Luna insured for a little over £13 a month which isn't bad and its lifetime cover, so doesn't just cover the first 12 months of treatment. Do you guys have insurance? Do you find it handy?

After vomiting and severe diarrhea when can you usually reintroduce kibble? Sonoma has been eating beef and rice for almost a week. Should I start her back on kibble now slowly and see what happens? How many pieces do you give to start? I think she's ready to go back to her normal diet...

after your dog is neutered, is it normal if his testicles are black/bruised? he has been like that since we got him and even after 2-3 weeks his testicles are the same color. his stitches are fine, but I'm just concerned about the bruising that doesn't seem to go away. we have a vet visit coming up but I just wanna see if other owners have experiences this.

I know it varies for each dog...but I'm wondering at what age your last husky went blind/deaf or partially blind/deaf? If at all? And, what was the determined cause of death for your husky/huskies? Cancer? Thanks! - E

Hi, i have always heard that you should let a bitch have at least one season before getting her spayed, but have never really looked into this. Having just did a little bit of research i have come to find many people saying the complete opposite and saying things such as - More health benefits from spaying before the first heat. Greatly reduces the chance of certain cancers, plus mammary cancer, and rules out the possibility of a pyometra, a life threatening condition that often needs emergency surgery. The only risk is from the anaesthetic, but it is a routine operation. I just wondered what most people on here seem to think is better for the female?

First of all hello , this is my first post on this site and here is a quick intro. I have a 5 month old husky named Sasha and she is a bit of a hand full to say the least. I love her to death but at time when I am trying to play with her or simply scratch and pet her she gets very aggressive and start nipping and biting my hands. It has gotten to the point where I am losing interest in playing with her because she almost always bites. I am not going to give up on her but I feel like I cannot let my kids run around with her outside because she might nip and bite at them also. Any tips on what I can do to stop this? Thanks in avance.

My 15 year old husky is doing amazingly well for her age, she can still go on long, slow walks and can be playful and even bust out a run now and then when she feels sassy. She is on Rimadyl for her hind legs and Tramadol for general discomfort. The main problem is she will lie down and just cry and cry and cry, until I get mad at her or give her a massage. I have found advice for excessive howling (spray bottle with water) but I feel bad doing that to her at her age. Any advice? Do I just need to stop the behavior dead on with the spray bottle advice? I have taken her to vet and she is as healthy as she can be for her age but she loves to cry about it constantly!!!…

ok so now saskia has settled in with us (3 months ish) she has began showing dominanace towards some smaller dogs. she hates shitzu's with a passion, and will try to stand over them, and then when they bark she barks, then they snap and she snaps then they bite. so saskia has to stay on the lead if their is the slightest chance of her running into small yapper type dogs its not all small dogs. shes fine with westies, she was quite happy to have a baby yorkie lay next to her. infact the 3 breeds of small dogs she doesnt like are shitzu corgis king charles spaniel she is quite happy with our cats, and has never show…
