Hello, I have an incredible Siberian Husky named Luca. He is the fittest dog I've seen and walks with me at least a hour a day. He jumps in and out of my truck daily. Last Tuesday morning he got up as usual. When he came back into the house he was limping badly. He was in obvious pain. I waited a day and took him to the vet. She gave him a pain med- anti inflammatory drug and said if it didn't get better to bring him back for X Rays. He has gotten a little better but still is limping. It's his rear hip that she says is the issue. Any thoughts? Thanks, Dave

Hi Folks. I have been a member of this site for a couple of months now.. have not been the most active of member mainly due to not spending a massive amount of time on the internet but I have read pretty much everything on this site even though I have not been replying lol First off I have a 17 week old Siberian Husky and loving every minute with her! I had never had a puppy sib before but I had rehomed a much older husky due to ill-treatment and fell in love with the breed despite their difficulties back then! over the past couple of weeks I have noticed that my husky has been getting some sores around her mouth and chin area with the c…

Hello! So, last night I noticed a small bump on my puppy's snout. I'm going to try to attach a photo. She still has it today, and it doesn't seem to have changed size. My husband said he thought he may have seen the bump a few days ago. He didn't tell me 😠 Until last night. I have to go to the vet this week and was planning on asking her what it could be. Has anyone else had an experience like this? Could it be a bug bite?? Thanks.

I have 2 Siberian husky puppies both female the agouti is 5 months old and has a little bit of malamute, she’s the runt so I’m not too concerned about her height and weight the red is the 7 month old and her dad was 70 pounds and her mom was 60 pounds so both were on the bigger side, and her brother is way taller then her Maybe there normals sized, All my other huskies are mixed with other breeds and are on the taller side if people can put pictures of there husky at 5-8 months old that’s would be great! 😁

Any advice or opinions welcome. My husky is getting what can only be termed as "fish butt" on a recurring basis. It is truly revolting and I'm sure uncomfortable for Kika my husky. This has been going on since September 2012. Initially, it happened about every 7 weeks now it is happening every 2 and we are having it extracting them and it's driving me and her nuts! We took her to the vet whom wasn't particularly interested in the frequency, we took her back again and he extracted them and put her on a course of antibiotics. Since May 2013 we changed her kibble fish oil diet to a diet of raw meat (beef, lamb and chicken), fresh vegetables with skins for fibre, so…

Hi there! My 9 year old Husky slipped and hurt his back left leg back in late September . The vet took x-rays and said it appeared to be a bad sprain, nothing more. He is STILL limping some and having weakness on that that side and it’s been 4 months. We have Novox as prescribed but I am concerned with keeping him on it that long due to side effects. Anyone else have a leg injury that took that long to heal????? thanks in advance

My husky has a few crusty spots on his head. They dont seem to bother him. But this isn't the first time this has happened the last time all the hair under is mouth fell off and turned red and scabby. I took him to the vet and put him on antibiotics and changed his food several times. And found something called orijin. Six fish that and the meds seemed to clear it up last time. He was good for a few months and now the problem is back. Anyone run into something like this.

Has anyone ever seen a trauma mass on the back of their husky neck? Notice yesterday a big lump on the back of my husky neck after playing with almost a year old German Shepard about same size. They like to bite each other neck but German Shepard likes to grab and pull. This is the first time she got a lump about size of half of baseball. It’s moveable and it drops to right side of her with her loose neck skin. She is about 1.5years old and they played like this all the time before and never noticed anything like this. Maybe she had a small swollen neck after playtime I never noticed before? I hope it’s not a serious one and it’s just a trauma mass from too rou…

I have a new husky puppy, he is 6 weeks old and the breeder gave him a dewormer shot the day we got him. He has had a solid stool a few times but mostly pudding like consistency. We got him on Sunday and it's been like that ever since. We have him on pro plan puppy food the chicken kind, the breeder recommended the venison blend because of allergies. Not too sure on what to do, if it's normal or not. Googled as much as I could and couldn't find a husky specific answer on what to do or a direction. We will be getting him in the vet in a week or two, just want some relief for him and possibly my carpet lol any help is appreciated, any recommendations will be considered. Th…

I’ve been giving some strays retriever puppy blend and retriever bits and bones for a while now and it’s seems to keep some amount of weight on them but there stools are kinda red and mushy not blood red looked like someone died it pink kinda, I’ve tried so many dog food for them but this seems to be the only one that’s keeping the weight on I would get better dog food, but I already have 4 other big dogs that eat raw food. so I was wondering if the dog food is good or not because it does keep them at a healthier weight and there coat does seem kinda dull but way shinier then before they won’t let me near them otherwise I would take them to a no kill shelter. And …

Hello! My new puppy Rocky just arrived 4 days ago to my new home. He was getting fed a local dry kibble by the breeder. When I took Rocky to the vet, she told me that the brand of Kibble he was being fed by the breeder was of poor quality. She recommended me (I bought it from her) Sportsman pride limited ingredient formula. Guys is this a good kibble for husky puppies? There is another formula by sportsman price called chicken formula for puppies, I wondered why the vet recommended me the limited ingredient formula instead of the puppy formula. The limited ingredient says its also allowed for puppies. which one do you guys think is better for a puppy? So I´ve been feed…

Hi everyone, I recently had my dog tested for allergies - I actually wanted a test for food allergies but my vet said you can’t test for those and online ones aren’t to be trusted and 9/10 it’s not food related. From the environmental test it turns out he’s allergies to grass(!), mould, dust mites and certain weeds - we’ve put him on 2 piritons a day (vet suggestion) and I’m trying natural supplements to help boost his immune system to reduce the itch and red sores around his eyes and mouth. Is was just wondering if anyone else has found a reliable way to test for food allergies as I’m not 100% convinced it’s just environmental. He’s a very picky eater and so it’s very ha…

hello, our 1.5 year old is a skinny mini. he is a grazer, has access to kibble at all times. we supplement at dinner with a quality wet food. he gets plenty of exercise, will work for treats, plays with our GSD and Pomsky A LOT! coat is shiny not dehydrated, not neutered yet. being this is our first Husky is this something we should be worried about. my vet is not concerned as he is flourishing other wise. both of his parents were on the smaller size as well, mom under 50 lbs, dad right around 50 lbs. thank you for any input! As for his main GUARD hairs, popped up around his front legs, chest, back etc...but nothing on his hind legs (hip and sides)... Today is rescue Siberian husky Marley’s 3 year fit-free milestone - 20 days before his 7th birthday. As some of the long-term members know I am Marley’s 4th owner despite getting him young. He started epilepsy at 10 months old - this proved to be only the first of his health problems. Some of which I have posted about previously – so I won’t go through it all again and bore you. However his saga of illnesses carry on apace – on top of his severe food allergies, earlier in the year it was discovered he has a faulty gene (hereditary) – leading to his body to not be able to process fat correctly and deposit fat directly into his eyes. His beautiful cho…

I don’t know how best to express this - I’ve included a photo - but since Poppy recently blew her coat her stomach area between her legs looks a bit pink. Maybe it’s just their is less fur and when it thickens up I won’t notice it but I’m not sure. it doesn’t look sore. It isn’t bothering her which is why I think it’s just the fact she has less fur down there but I’m not sure. Any thoughts?

For those of you who are not familiar with Marley - he is a soon-to-be 4 year old rescued Siberian Husky (4th owner) so his background is unknown. He started epilepsy at 10 months of age and they came quite regularly, approximately every 27 days for over a year. Luckily my vet was reluctant to start him on meds at that time because he was so young. Then in early 2018 he had 5 fits between Jan 7th and March 9th 4 in 12 days and 3 in two days - my vet wanted to put him on vet meds (epiphen) but I said no, I wanted to try cbd oil first. To say he was unhappy with my decision is putting it extremely mildly - I thought he was going to ban me from the…

So we've had our girl for about 3 years now, she is about 10 years old. She has always moulted loads throughout the year but over the last few months we've noticed she has stopped shedding. As in, hardly any fur on the floor at all. Is this something I should be worried about or is it natural at her age? Thanks x

Hi, We just adopted a husky. Her right back paw was wrapped when we adopted her but the rescue said it would be completely healed in 3 days. We took the bandage off and she is missing a toe. This was not the injury they told us it was. We took her to the vet and we're giving her antibiotics, probiotics, and soaking her foot in betadine and water every day now. But we don't know how to keep her foot clean when we take her for walks cause the vet said we need to leave it unwrapped to heal. Are there plastic injury booties to go under other booties that I can put on her paw for walks? Has anyone experienced helping a husky heal from losing a toe? I'd ap…

I make bone broth for my two boys on a weekly basis (I get lamb ribs - the bone portion of their meals, spines - you would be amazed at how much meat there is on a lamb spine, and leg bones - sawn in half for me) all free, - in exchange for a couple of 600ml tubs of bone broth. Most of the bone broth goes into the freezer for the dogs during the week - but I also fill up two ice cube trays with the liquid only - and once frozen empty the trays into a small container - and doggie bone broth ice lollies are on tap whenever the dogs fancy one. Not only do the dogs LOVE them, but bone broth ice lollies also do not set as hard as plain water does – so it…
