Hey all, Sorry for not being around as of late, but I've started a second job and have been super busy. I'm looking for a little bit of advice on this one. Since I've been working the second job, I've obviously been away from the house more. Finn is obviously home alone more as a result. So, here's the situation. I can't leave her home alone and let her roam the house because she will do her business in my bedroom. (When there was a flood in my apartment it brought the smell up through the hardwood from the last pet owner, and now I can't get her to stop going there no matter how many times I clean / enzyme / peroxide it) I …

So Tuesday morning, I woke up and took the dogs out, about 5:30am. At this point, Naala had been with me 4 and a half days, and Simba only 2 and a half. Took them out to the grassy spot on the corner, told them to go potty, and they both did. Not too excited, as it was early morning and I'm sure they both had to go anyway, but I praised and they got their treats. Yesterday, both dogs got their morning walk, both pottied wonderfully. After work, took them out and they pottied in the same place. Went on a walk for about 2 miles, took them in, let them have some water and then some food. As soon as they finished eating we went out to the grassy spot. Both pottied on …

Just wondering if anyone else's fur babies have a thing for fruit? Kodi loves Apples and pears, infact, he's so crazy about apples, he stole one off the table when I wasn't looking, took it outside and ate it. If you are eating an apple or pear he will wait for you to finish and then eat the core??? Found out today he's also quite partial to strawberries. I had some earlier and he made such a fuss I gave him a little bit and then he kept coming to see if he could have anymore. Not sure whether friut is a good thing or not?? Any advice/ideas?

Finally cracked it I hope. Blue had his first night without messing in his crate ! hope this is start of it and not a one off. But he did good anyway ! I had heard that if they have to much space in the crate they will sleep one end and mess in the other. So i reduced the size if his crate. it was 2ft by 4ft so he did have so much much space in there. he still has loads of space but its prob a bit closer to home for him to do it now. Soon as we get a good few nights of this hopefully i can take the divider out. But well done Blue !! :grinning-smiley-003

Haley goes to the vet tomorrow morning at 7AM to get spayed. The vet is going to keep her all day, and I'll pick her up a 5PM to take her home again. I'm not sure how this is going to go, it's been over 15 years since I've had a dog spayed (childhood dog, haven't had a dog that needed to be spayed since). She is officially off food for the night, as she had to stop eating at 7PM. She can drink until 9PM and after that it's no food or water until tomorrow night! NOt sure how she'll like that when Kahtadin is up tomorrow morning and wants to eat/drink and she can't! I'm hoping it's easy for her tomorrow, it'll be her first time away from Kahtadin t…

Right I let Alfie off the lead the other day in a semi secure field as nice as it was to see him running i was quite scared that he would escape. He came straight back to me but I know that theres a chance he might not. So can anybody recomend a long leader 10m ish. Im frightened that the retractable ones will snap. Im also worried that a length of something will hurt him when he gets to the end of it. any links to ones you use would be appreciated. Cheers Robson

Hi there Val, when you posted about innova evo I looked it up to see the ingredients and also to see if the were stores here that sell it. I hadnt actually heard of this brand before but I was very impressed with the ingredients, and there are 3 stores that carry it. My question is...Hvae you ever had any trouble getting a dog to eat this food? Chewy is a picky eater so I just thought I would ask you. Im still going to buy some very soon and see how he does with it since its not overly expensive.

just in case anyone here feeds nutro products to their pooch...there has been a new recall. Apparently they have been finding pieces of plastic in the food!! So you may want to buy another brand if you were about to get more food.

Ok so now it's time to talk about my other sibe, Cypra! She has a problem licking her fur. Everything that I have read so far about "hot spots" is different than what she has I believe. It doesn't itch her, and she only does it when we aren't home or sometimes at night. When we took her to the vet, they diagnosed her with an anxiety problem and they gave her some meds to mellow her out. Now let me tell you, Cypra is one of the most mellow dogs EVER, and those pills literally made her look like she was comatose! I had her enrolled in obedience classes, thinking that it would make her happier, but again, she would be fine until we would leave, or go to sleep. Does anyone ha…

I cannot remember how old Max should be before i can expect him to go through the night? He is 10 weeks old and at the mo he takes himself to his crate about 6.30ish and sleeps untill we go to bed ,is taken out between 10.30 and 11.00 ,very reluctantly, but is always a"good boy" then he goes back to bed untill anywhere between 3.30 and 4.30 for another bathroom visit ,and then if i am really lucky he will go back to bed untill 5 ish!!!He is having three meals a day the last one being around 5 pm. 5.30 ish.I am not expecting miracles but it would be nice to now when the end might be in sight .

Does anyone have any suggestions on hard chew treats for dogs? We're looking for something for Haley that will last more than 2 minutes. We don't use rawhides, and were hoping to find something she could chew on that wouldn't be bad for her. We've tried Busy Bone, Pork Chomps, dentabone, and a few other "hard chews for strong chewers" and they last just for a minute, maybe two before she as torn them apart and eaten them. Any ideas? Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a puppy (say 4 months old)? We have plenty of rope toys and rubber toys for him to chew on, but nothing he can eat. He tries to tear apart his air kong squeak toys and pull…

Hiya all, Just a quick one........what do you feed your little ones? Our little Angel is on dried food (for puppies) as she is only 9 months, but i notice that she hardly eats much of it anymore When we looked into getting a Husky we are aware that they are not known as 'pigs'! They tend not to eat if they are not hungry and eat when they are (wish I could be like that!) Takara has always had a good appetite though and I hate it when she never eats her breakfast and lunch (mainly) She will eat her tea. What we have started doing is mixing in shreddies for breakfast and gravy & meat at lunch, with meat with the dried food at tea time. …

i havent got my husky puppy yet and i want to be as prepaired as i can be for her and i was thinking what if nalla plays too rough with my chihuahua and hurts her? id never be able to forgive myself. my chihuahua is a dominate dog but she gets along with other dogs until they get too close to her and sniffs her butt or just pushes her too far. since nalla will be a puppy when i get her do i just let nalla be nipped at by my chihuahua to show her dominance or what should i do. i dont want nalla to bite her or nothing.

In its simplest terms, pyometra is an infection of the uterus or womb. However in most cases pyometra infections are much more difficult to manage than routine infections. Infection in the lining of the uterus is established as a result of hormonal changes. Following oestrus ("season", or "heat"), hormone levels remain elevated for 8-10 weeks to prepare the uterus for, and maintain, pregnancy. If pregnancy does not occur the lining continues to increase in thickness until cysts form in the walls. This thickened cystic lining secretes fluids which are ideal for bacteria to thrive in. The wall of the uterus is also inhibited in its ability to contract and remove …

Hypoglycaemia in dogs can cause some very unusual behaviors that include trembling, seizures, or in severe cases, stupors or comas. It can also cause your dog to act as if they are temporarily blind. But whatever the reaction is in your dog, it can be a frightening experience. The good news is that there are very good treatments available and in most cases dogs will fully recover. However, if it is not properly identified and treated, it could cause the death of your dog. Hypoglycemia is a condition where your pets blood sugar has become very low and it could be caused by several different factors. It is technically defined as a blood glucose count i…

Hi everyone, hope you can help.... Nukka has a cold!!! Her symptoms are sneezing, a little bit of eye discharge (just like green sleep) and a runny nose. As far as I can tell she doesnt have a temperature and she is eating and drinking and otherwise behaving normally. No dificulty breathing or coughing or phlem. So heres where I need help... I know human colds are usually viral and so Dr's usually just say bed rest and chicken soup etc. However I've looked online and read up and apparently dog cold symptoms can be for other things like distemper or parainfluenza etc and recomended going to a vets. But I'm not rich and the vets are expensive as shes…
