Having Henry here has reminded me how much I miss having an offlead dog, just ambling through the fields/woods not having to worry about stepping over leads or untangling them from trees Its just so.... relaxing! As much as I love my fruit loops to bits, and wouldnt change them for the world, there are other breeds I adore as well, mainly border collies So would you ever have another breed? if so what ones?

My uncle has a 3-4 month old chow chow and for some odd reason she just doesn't like me! Every time I go over, she barks at me constantly and if I try to go near her, she runs from me. This is just really weird to me because I've only met 1 dog in my lifetime that doesn't like me. And I don't understand why this one doesn't. Anyway, I'm going to be going over to feed my uncles dogs while he's out of town and I want to see if I can build some trust with the dog without her owners around. Of course, treats should help....but does anyone have any suggestions how I can get her to come to me and learn to trust me? Thanks!!

Hes had them almost since he got him obviously not when we picked him or we wouldnt have gotten him but they are not frequent and happen maybe once or at most twice a month. They are usually not alot of blood which led me to beleive maybe he just had a dry nose but today my brothers txt me in a panic saying he woke up and his dog was in a little pool of blood. I asked him if it was still bleeding he said no and I told him if it starts again to put an icepack on it. he hasnt txt me back so far but Ive asked him if the nose is swollen or if his dogs face looks different in any way. He says hes acting happy go lucky as usual. I told him to call the vet asap (ive been telling…

Paolo! Considering he was in my life first, I really ought to share some info about him, he lords it over the huskies despite his size. He is actually Chihuahua crossed with Jack Russell, He weighs in at almost 3kg now, and he is 2 and a half years old. He is a little rat bag but I love him with all my heart. He causes havoc, barks at kids, barks at people in high visibility jackets and he barks at cats and any dogs that pass the window where he sits and scans his territory. He really is a little B*****d but he's mine and I'll live with it. He does make up for his horrible attitude by being flippin' hillarious! He has wonderful facial…

So I've heard a lot about the Northern Inuit. At the show on Saturday we got to meet LOADS of Northern Inuits and got to speak to some people from the Northern Inuit Society. After we got talking to them, I couldn't help but feel that they were almost trying to "sell" the idea of a Northern Inuit being far better than a Siberian Husky. We were told that they are fantastic dogs in obedience and are easy to train - unlike the Siberian Husky (NOT MY OPINION). They said the only real thing they share in common is the need for crate training. It got me thinking about how this opinion would start reflecting to other members of the pub…

My mom has a 5 month old collie cross pup that is currently teething. Over the past 2 weeks her gums have been bleeding quite a lot around her teeth (cant tell if theyre new or baby teeth). It bleeds when she looses a tooth as obvs there is a hole left in her gum but is it normal for the gum around existing teeth to bleed aswell? She isn't in any pain, hasn't gone off food and is acting completely normal otherwise. We've never had a pup before have always had older rescue dogs so I really dont know what is normal and dont want to waste a visit to the vets if not needed as its not cheap lol. Any advice helpful, thanks x

This has got nothing to do with the forum and people probably aren't even the slightest bit interested but I'm so excited and I can't find enough to do to keep myself occupied right now People probably know that I own mice, I've put photos of them up here before. Well, those were just pet type mice; small, round bodies, stuck on looking tails, narrow pointed faces, small ears, blah blah blah Well, I've enjoyed owning them so much that I'm actually now going to start breeding mice to show! But that means I need some show type mice, instead of my pet type ones; so, bigger, racier bodies (show mice can get up to almost a foot long including tails!! ), big ears…

one of my corn snakes is ill. I've had "him" from a baby, around 6 yrs. For the last 4 yrs, it's lived with another "male" corn very happily, no food problems, territory issues, nothing. The other is about a year older, we bought it from a family who's kids had grown bored with it! Both snakes stop eating every year around November time & don't start till March / April. Only this one has not started (well, neither has the other ) but has lost SO much weight in the last few weeks. It now has a bulge 2/3 of the way down. That is why I have put "him" & "male" in speech marks, I'm wondering now do I have a sick snake or gravid one?? He / it is …
