Split from the facebook page thread. I have five males--Jack, Bash, Red, Pretty & Veil. I've had them about a year and just love them. I used to have 20gal tanks but after the accident I had to get rid of them. The 2.5gal betta tanks are perfect for me. I can handle them without help (usually) and that makes a huge difference. My daughter worked at Walmart and started bringing me the saddest, sickest bettas she saw. After four my husband told her she had to stop! I ordered Pretty from a breeder, he's the only one I actually chose. Do you guys use java moss in your tanks? I swear by it! I never have ammonia issues. The java moss soaks up free ammonia lik…

We had some awful news today. My sister in laws German Shepherd had to go to rainbow bridge. She was only 6. they originally thought she had a uti so took her to the vets yesterday and they gave her some antibiotics - but through the night she had been being sick and kept trying but without success to pee and she just wasn't right. They took her back and the vets did an X-ray, and found a large mass in and around her bladder, at which point they referred her to a specialist. They took her this afternoon, where they took a biopsy and it turned out it was cancer. They would have just removed it and then given her chemo but it would have only prelonged her life for 6mon…

Thought i should mention our Pip as well! Pip is a jack russel/border collie (yep how in the world?! lol). She is a gorgeous looking little dog, bigger than a J russ but 4 month old Shadow the husky has already overtaken her in size. She is black with tan markings and a white tummy. She is just over 2 years old now, we got her as a pup. She came from a litter of 8 from my brother's girlfriend's dog, which was the jack russel mother. The breeding was an accident, as the border collie belonged to another family member, but it couldn't of been a better one! All the pups from the litter are great natured, loving dogs. Pip gets on great with Shadow and welcomed him straig…

Feeling a bit rubbish today. Brooke's not getting any younger and I know that death is a natural part of life, "you can't keep 'em forever" but things are starting to hit home right now that this statement also applies to my Brooke not just other people's dogs. The reason I'm feeling cr** is because little signs are starting to pile up now that the weather has turned and it brings it all home that she's not a spring chicken anymore. Stiff back legs, needing to go toilet more often (leading to small accidents overnight), and poor hearing which worries me as her recall is/was spotless but now that's going to be affected too. I'm probably worrying needlessly as she j…

http://www.avianweb.com/aviatorharness.html Holy...I didn't know these things existed! Do they actually work? I wish I would have known about them when I had my budgie - he would have loved to fly outside...he always loved looking out of the window.

So I've been at work tonight and one of my guy friends comes in and mentions he saw 3 puppies dumped at a gas station. I automatically freak out and send the boyfriend to go get them. They were gone when he got there. Then ironically the girl who cuts my hair posts a pic of them and says she needs to take them somewhere. So End of the story I am now taking care of three pit mixed pups. Hopefully we can find good homes go them. They're full of worms so I'm taking them straight to the vet in the am. As strange as this might sound, I was afraid of dogs when I was younger. As much as I love seeing them, I don't like being too close to dogs. Denzel, my cousin's little Pekingese mix, was the first dog that made me a real dog lover. He's friendly, lively, sweet and smart. He'd never pose for a picture, but he's one of the most expressive dogs I've ever seen. Denzel met Diamond once, but the poor little Pekingese never met a larger dog before so he's too afraid to play with my excited furry monster. I really need to find that vid of them chasing each other x) Denzel is now 7-8 years old, and recently diagnosed with liver problem Idk what kind of problem, but now he's rest…

I know all I seem to post is non husky related stuff but if anyone remembers the story about Juno and her lovely boy Lucas they could all really use any thoughts and prayers they can get right now. Here's a link to his story if you don't remember him: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/46168614/ns/today-today_pets_and_animals/t/lucas-juno-special-bond-rescue-dog-dying-boy/#.UHuQemd8N8F Juno is now very sick as is Lucas and due to Juno being so badly ill they have had to keep her at the vets. It's heartbreaking to read how upset she is not being at Lucas' side as I can only imagine how Lucas must feel. Here are the updates I just read: Juno isn't doing very well .. …
