I'm debating getting another dog. Part of me would love another husky, but there's also part of me that would like a dog with good recall so I can let them off. Plus in larger enclosed areas I'd be able to let both dogs off and not worry about having to rugby tackle Fen to get him back on lead and he always returns if he's with another dog that has good recall. What breeds do people recommend that mix well with huskies. I want a medium or large dog with a similar exercise requirement to Fenrir and that's about it, though I'm not keen on labs for some reason. I'm tempted to get a German Shepherd, is this a potential good match? Any dog I do get would most likel…

So I've heard a lot about the Northern Inuit. At the show on Saturday we got to meet LOADS of Northern Inuits and got to speak to some people from the Northern Inuit Society. After we got talking to them, I couldn't help but feel that they were almost trying to "sell" the idea of a Northern Inuit being far better than a Siberian Husky. We were told that they are fantastic dogs in obedience and are easy to train - unlike the Siberian Husky (NOT MY OPINION). They said the only real thing they share in common is the need for crate training. It got me thinking about how this opinion would start reflecting to other members of the pub…

While I was on my way to school I saw this amazingly GIANT dog. at first I thought it was a chow chow but I made up my mind that that big ass dog couldn't possibly be a chow. It had brown coat just like a chow, It was thick really really thick and the dog was wayy bigg. Bigger than a malamute. it couldn't be a st bernard for the face fully resembles A CHOW so what could be the breed? I thought of it, it may be a caucasian ovcharka but the face is a bit different. what do you guys say?

Lol! I wasn't sure whether or not to post this here or in general health; Mange is Mange I guess, whatever the breed, but here goes. I got an email from my mum this morning and she mentioned that her 1 year old dog still has mange. I asked her what the vet was treating it with since I was aware of the dog having a skin condition many, many months ago, so it surprised me to hear that it is still ongoing. After a couple of replies to my emails, I asked her to post me some pic's and write a brief history so that I could post it on here. TBH, I haven't seen Mange in over 20 years, and the treatment for it, as I recall, was a chemical in a large plastic container that wa…

Hey everybody, Maybe you could give me some advise on this situation I'm having at the moment... Yesterday, one of my bunnies died unfortunately... Even more unfortunate is that the other one is now alone.. Which I think is terrible.. They always had the backyard for themselves, but I don't want to leave her there alone. So.. Now I was thinking to get her a cage for inside the house and have her inside so she wouldn't be so alone. There's only one little problem.. Our beloved husky malamute Elai.. It was just a stupid little mistake to not let him get used to the bunnies when he was a pup. I guess because he didn't have anything to do with them anyway. Th…

Are/should they be held in the same regard as wolf hybrids for how dangerous/unpredictable/difficult etc etc they are or can be? Or, are they domesticated enough that they are on par with Sibes and mals? One love

Besides huskies, what other animals do you have? Currently in our house, other than Kimba, Kaiser, and Koda, we also have a bearded dragon and a corn snake. We rescued the bearded dragon, and the corn snake I kinda ended up with whilst drunk (No, really! lol)

Does anyone own a Shiba? Kiana has made friend's with a couple shibas a the park and I've had great fun talking to the owners about the breed they sound very husky like in their temperament and generally actions. Just curious if anyone owns one and sees a correlation between the two?

Hi Everyone, I've been wanting to get a husky since forever, and have done a whole lot of research on them. I'm fully confident on tackling the training of one (having trained dogs before), the amount of exercise she'll need etc, but I'm most concerned about the possibility of the family cats. I've done a bunch of reading on it, including some on this site, and have found a lot of answers saying Nope don't even try it, and also quite a few saying their husky/ies gets on fine with cats. The consensus I'm seeming to find is that huskies that have been raised since very young with cats get along fine, while those that are introduced from about a year+ don't work al…

Having Henry here has reminded me how much I miss having an offlead dog, just ambling through the fields/woods not having to worry about stepping over leads or untangling them from trees Its just so.... relaxing! As much as I love my fruit loops to bits, and wouldnt change them for the world, there are other breeds I adore as well, mainly border collies So would you ever have another breed? if so what ones?

I have no idea what to do, my staffy Lexi is 1, so she's still a puppy, but it's becoming a problem now that she's still play-biting because her teeth are obviously bigger and she's a lot stronger now, and also she's still jumping. It's to the point now where when she see's other people she's running over to them, jumping up and biting them (not aggressively it's ALL play, I assure you, she's the sweetest dog ever and not any of my dogs have ever done anything aggressive towards people). I've done everything I can possibly think of to correct her, I've yelled at her 'NO' because I get frustrated when she grabs me a little too hard, or jumps on me, I've tried complet…

(I decided to make a megathread, where I only post about him here. He isn’t a husky, after all!) So, we picked up the puppy on the 28th. He yowled in the car (missing his litter mates/pack?). Brought him home, and upon breeder’s advice we have been keeping Daisy and him separated (they can smell each other through the door, but no physical contact. Breeder says any negative encounter with a dog at his age will affect him for life) Daisy has been avoiding him anyways, and she still gets love, attention, walks, etc. That night in his crate, alone (breeder’s/trainer’s ‘orders’) he yowled for 4 hours straight. After he was quiet for ~5 seconds I let him out of…

Doing my research here I really love these dogs and plan to own one in the future, so guess it's time to learn more about the breed no breed description can tell me what kind of dogs they really are better than someone who actually owns a GSD. Right? so if you own a GSD or know a lot about them, please spare your time to answer my questions 1. I know they shed heavily, and I really don't mind the fur, but do they shed more or less than a husky? 2. My neighbor's GSD barks every time someone walk past his home--even when he's being crated! Do they all do this? Is it a natural behavior or do they need to be trained to do that? 3. Sadly this is a breed prone to a …

Out of nowhere I've been obsessively reading about the German Shepard breed and I think I have to admit I found my new favourite breed. Not that the husky isn't... But I think I found something that really fits with me. And it's only taken me 10 years to figure that one out. As a child I always loved the GSD breed. But upon reading about them I discovered they are not easy dogs nor dogs for people with no experience with dogs (which I was at that time). So I left it with that, thinking GSDs weren't suitable for me. But than I accidentally stumbled upon the Siberian Husky breed and have been involved with them for quite some time now. They were my first introduction to…
