Thought this might be a bit of a good discussion and usefull to others. I would like you to rate your current broadband provider. Lets see who's offering good service nowadays. Here's mine: Provider: Sky Broadband Package: 16meg unlimited Rating: 7/10 Comments: They are ok for an ADSL provider I guess. I do occasionally have to reset my router which is a pain in the backside and you can only use their hardware which as a techie annoys the hell out of me. But in fairness Ive never been offline for any prolonged periods of time and the speed is relativly good for what I use it for.

Apple says a fault on its new iPhone 4 is causing it to incorrectly display the phone's signal. Users who gripped the phone on the lower left-hand side noticed the signal strength and reception fell away. Apple says the problem relates to an error on how the signal bars are displayed, rather than the signal itself. However some industry experts say that there may be a deeper signal problem than a cosmetic design flaw. Apple is promising a patch fix "within a few weeks". Users may also choose to get a full refund within 30 days of purchase, the firm has said. The iPhone 4 went on sale on 24 June. In a statem…

I then opened up a new IE and I got the same virus detected message from AVG... I did another scan and I've been going round in circles ever since... Any ideas what to do? AVG is telling me that the infection is ' virus found HTML/Framer '

so iphone have released an upgrade for 3g 3gs and iphone 4 called iOS4 basically version 4 of their phone software if you have a 3g i would not upgrade, i have a 3g and i upgraded, and it is so slow now, i searched the internet, and lots of other people are complaining about how slow their 3g is since the upgrade, and at the moment unless you have an apple mac it is a permenant upgrade, hopefully someone will release a fix enabling a downgrade. before you upgrade look on the internet and the apple forums to see. there are a few obvious new features, but it is not worth it, plus my iphone is now unjailbroken

Friday night, while on this site, all of a sudden, IE 8 started to slow down. I'm on cable, so it's normally extremely fast. I closed IE and reopened. It was fine for a few minutes, then slowed way down again. Rebooted the machine. Same outcome; started browsing rather quickly then in a few minutes, slowed to a crawl. Problem was with all sites. Running Windows 7 Professional with McAfee Total Protection. Checked eventvwr, nothing stood out to indicate a problem. Downloaded Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Both browsers work fine. No problems. So I suspect something in IE 8 has become corrupt. Here's my speeds using IE 8: …

well today is my daughters birthday and one of the things we got her is just dance. its £16.99 and worth every penny. you dont need a dance mat, just a standard controller, and you follow the on screen dancer. all her friends wanted to play it, and her older sister and myself and my wife, in the end we had a room full of people dancing along even though we didnt have enough controllers. if you want to loose weight i recon this is a great way to do it, i use wii fit plus, and i have got used to it, and it is no effort any more, but after 10 minutes of dancing i felt like i had done more than an hour on wii fit. we also got her the wii sing and that…

I’ll start by saying I’m a records freak. I keep track of everything. I first learned about databases using MS Access and became very good at it over time. With that, I built a few databases that kept records for home and for work. After a while, I couldn’t stand the fact that I had a hard time using Access DB’s on different computers. This version wouldn’t work with that version…..different screen resolutions screwed up all the forms on different computers, etc. When I discovered that my old computer would not be able to run a newer version of Access, I decided to go another route…MySQL. I have a website that

Thought it might be interesting to see if there are any others on here as geeky as myself when it comes to using Microsoft excel. Thought maybe if there are a few of us with skills in using formulas to their potential it might be worth doing a few short tutorials on functions that you can use in excel that other people can put to use. Think everyone will have used excel at some point for something but most dont have a good knowledge of exactly what they can achieve with it.

I'm in the market for a home theater system for around $500 or less. I'd be hooking up my massive computer, my DVR, my Xbox, and of course my TV. Really the only one that uses a HDMI for sound is the DVR but I also use a HDMI for the computer to the TV if that makes a difference. Can anyone make any suggestions? I currently have a 50 inch Panasonic and my living room has an open wall that doesnt make for the best of mounting places so two Floor speakers behind the couch would proll work better than mounting them. Heres what I'm working with.

Just a quick question for the IT professionals What is the best way to keep your PC tower free from dust and fluff? Mine is always filthy and with 3 furbabies I'm sure it can only get worse Normally I just stick the hoover hose down each side, but the other day I dropped something down the back of the unit an so pulled the tower forward and OMG I could have filled a bag with the amount dust and fluff there was sticking to the cables and wires. Is there anything I should be doing or paying particular attention to?

ok when you get a new pc its lovely and fast, and at some point it slows down to a crawl. now lots of people may shout viruses, spyware or malware. and this may be the case, but it is not always the case. some of it may be down to routine maintenace, or even software installed. so 1 virus protection: essential piece of software to have, make sure it is upto date, but did you know that when you switch on your pc most antivirus programes will run a scan which will slow your pc down while it scans. you can get around this by runnign a full scan then setting the virus scanner to "ON ACCESS" which means that when ever a file …
