Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, wh…

A little over a decade ago, my wife and I set off on adventure with some crazy little critters called Sugar Gliders. Not long after getting our first we became a rescue for neglected or unwanted Suggies. One day we received a call from our Vet who informed us of a pair of 5-6 year old "mean" Gliders 45 minutes from our house that the owners needed picked up. Long story short they were primarily a breeding pair that had stopped producing joeys. Once this happened the previous owners had put them up for sale and sold them to a family with young children. The pair named Sachi and Keisha had not been socialized and were little terrors. Needless to say we brought them home wit…

At 7.30pm our vet knocked our door to say that unfortunately our wonderful 2yr old cat boog had been hit by a car and killed instantly. He had been taken to the closest vet, ours, where he was identified. He really was one in a million. We had rehomed him jan 08 when his previous owners had dumped him outside our vets in the snow. They scanned him and rang his owner who said do with him what you want!! He then had an operation for a retained testicle and was neutered at the same time. That same day our dog yogi was due his boosters and our vet happened to mention that they had a cat which had been dumped. Knowing what we are like for animals they asked if we would li…

this is probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do! unfortunately over the weekend Bings got worse , he couldn't even keep water down anymore and hadn't eaten for a week despite trying to tempt him , he wasn't a happy dog anymore , he managed to get upstairs last night and came for a cuddle which he hasn't done in a good while so i think he knew too that it was time but i don't want to dwell on the sadness i want to remember my boy happy and playful and the pain in the butt that he was like the day we got him and they said lets see how he does with your kids and he DIVED into my lap giving me kisses or the time he was determined to bury a piece of toast on our…

Its with great sadness and streams of tears im typing this message its one of the hardest things ive ever done!!!!!! Sadly we had to say goodbye to our beautiful baby girl Mya this afternoon:cry:. It turns out her condition was a lot worse than anyone ever suspected the surgeon at the vets couldnt do anything for her that would give her any quality of life. So we have had to make one of the hardest decisions anyone can be asked to make and that is say good bye to her. We only had her for 3 months but she was such a large part of our lives and we had come to accept and realise the reponsibilities keeping a huskybrought with them. …

This is the hardest topic I will ever start, but Diesel has gone to sleep today. I am absolutely numb. I can't believe I am having to post this. The vet wanted to get him in before next Tuesday (should have gone in yesterday but the little bugger ate in the morning so couldn't go under anaesthetic) so they made space for him today for his ultrasound & x-ray. He was dropped off at 9am. I got a call at 3pm, he was under & the scan revealed a mass in his abdomen but they weren't sure how far it had spread, so I had 3 options. Put him straight to sleep without bringing him round, bring him round so he could come home for his last few weeks / months and leave …

When I lost my baby girl last July, I spent many a day reading to help soothe the pain. I wanted to be assured she was going to be somewhere better, waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. I just found this portion of the group... and see that obviously I am not alone. I hope these are not duplicates. These are probably the two most tear jerking stories I found, while at the same time, they made me feel so much better. I'm so touched by how much everyone here loves their husky(ies). Stormy was a mix, and as my daughter said the other day..."Mom, Jackson will do great. He's a lot like Stormy. We never broke her spirit, and she learned how to be loved!" Enjoy...The Si…

a few days ago we let our guard down outside a shop, we where getting out of the car, and we unclipped saskia, as a small dog started yapping. she bolted, and got hit by a car. it didnt even seem that hard, and she looked ok, but she just lay there not moving, i thought she was just stunned, but she didnt get up. we took her to the vets, and he told us she had recieved a fatal head injury, and gave us the option of having her put to sleep. we agreed, and she was soon fast asleep. i cant believe in the short amount of time we have had saskia, she has got so much into my heart. and as hard as it was to say goodbye, it was even more heartbreaki…

I lost my best friend today - Shad passed over the Rainbow Bridge. My vet came out and set him free for me. He gently slipped away under the shade of a maple tree in my yard with me to hold him close, and his Auntie Becky to rub his face. We had 14 years together, and they were each of them wonderful - I will miss him terribly! His mother, Ari, was my best friend before him, and she taught him well - he has followed faithfully in her paw prints. Shad-love, it was a privilege to be your human - you were my Heart-dog! Wait for me on the other side! Sutula's Shadow Dancer, CGC - 21 March 1997 - 30 July 2011 (Wuv you, Mom!)

Bailey. RIP 1 2

It is with heavy heart that I make my first post on this forum. I regret that I didn't come across the forum until it's too late. My lovely Bailey was hit by a car on August 20th. Although he remained alive and appeared unmarked, he had suffered a blow to the head causing brain damage: he was paralysed. I took him to the vets and the vet immediately diagnosed the condition and advised me that there was little hope that he'd ever regain normal movement. Through all this he was clearly conscious as his eyes would follow me and react. He must have been totally bewildered and confused that he couldn't sit up or wag his tail. So with a very heavy heart, I signed the…

Once again, I sadly announce another member has joined my Rainbow Bridge Dream Team... Rebel was twelve and a half years young, and was in wonderful health until last spring, when a number of things happened, including a couple of surgeries and the start of a battle with a very persistent bladder infection. He's slowly gotten worse over the last week or so, so with the help of my vet, we let him quietly slip away to the Rainbow Bridge today... Sutula's Never Surrender - "Rebel" February 9, 2000 - November 17, 2012 You will always be missed, Sweetheart!

My beautiful Lunar went over the bridge today - he wanted to go out for his morning walk - but only got as far as the gate and just stopped - his legs would not let him go any further. Marley will miss his friend awfully - they were inseparable. We are heartbroken. However we had 14 happy years - and he still recognised us despite the dementia taking most of his personality over the last 6 months. Run free my beatuful friend - you can run again now without pain. Patch, Benson, Kia, Louie and Bernie will be waiting for you on the other side and you can all run together.

We've sent Belle over the rainbow bridge tonight She was only 5 years old My hubby and I are gutted at her very early departure from this world but following a traumatic weekend we were advised to let her go. On Friday evening she went out with Martin lamping, but whilst chasing a rabbit she collapsed with a seizure. She eventually regained consciousness but just wasn't right in herself. As you can see from the picture Belle doesn't have much fur due to a hormonal imbalance. The vet thinks that finally the toil of the condition proved too much for her little body She has been crying in pain all weekend and even the strong painkillers haven't taken the edge o…

Today, my old sledding buddy Roller walked over the Rainbow Bridge. He was a dog that always held himself somewhat aloof, and always had to have the last word - on anything! He almost didn't make it through last winter - I had to shut him inside the kennel, which he hated! He didn't mind coming into the house for a while, but much preferred to be outdoors, regardless of the weather. He would come in at mealtimes, soaking wet through and shivering from it, if I didn't make him stay in, he was so stubborn! I couldn't get enough calories in him to keep his weight up... Rolly, I'll miss the wonderful times we had out sledding or at the occasional dog show. See you…
