Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, wh…

This is the hardest topic I will ever start, but Diesel has gone to sleep today. I am absolutely numb. I can't believe I am having to post this. The vet wanted to get him in before next Tuesday (should have gone in yesterday but the little bugger ate in the morning so couldn't go under anaesthetic) so they made space for him today for his ultrasound & x-ray. He was dropped off at 9am. I got a call at 3pm, he was under & the scan revealed a mass in his abdomen but they weren't sure how far it had spread, so I had 3 options. Put him straight to sleep without bringing him round, bring him round so he could come home for his last few weeks / months and leave …

I lost my best friend today - Shad passed over the Rainbow Bridge. My vet came out and set him free for me. He gently slipped away under the shade of a maple tree in my yard with me to hold him close, and his Auntie Becky to rub his face. We had 14 years together, and they were each of them wonderful - I will miss him terribly! His mother, Ari, was my best friend before him, and she taught him well - he has followed faithfully in her paw prints. Shad-love, it was a privilege to be your human - you were my Heart-dog! Wait for me on the other side! Sutula's Shadow Dancer, CGC - 21 March 1997 - 30 July 2011 (Wuv you, Mom!)

Today, my old sledding buddy Roller walked over the Rainbow Bridge. He was a dog that always held himself somewhat aloof, and always had to have the last word - on anything! He almost didn't make it through last winter - I had to shut him inside the kennel, which he hated! He didn't mind coming into the house for a while, but much preferred to be outdoors, regardless of the weather. He would come in at mealtimes, soaking wet through and shivering from it, if I didn't make him stay in, he was so stubborn! I couldn't get enough calories in him to keep his weight up... Rolly, I'll miss the wonderful times we had out sledding or at the occasional dog show. See you…

Its with great sadness and streams of tears im typing this message its one of the hardest things ive ever done!!!!!! Sadly we had to say goodbye to our beautiful baby girl Mya this afternoon:cry:. It turns out her condition was a lot worse than anyone ever suspected the surgeon at the vets couldnt do anything for her that would give her any quality of life. So we have had to make one of the hardest decisions anyone can be asked to make and that is say good bye to her. We only had her for 3 months but she was such a large part of our lives and we had come to accept and realise the reponsibilities keeping a huskybrought with them. …

a few days ago we let our guard down outside a shop, we where getting out of the car, and we unclipped saskia, as a small dog started yapping. she bolted, and got hit by a car. it didnt even seem that hard, and she looked ok, but she just lay there not moving, i thought she was just stunned, but she didnt get up. we took her to the vets, and he told us she had recieved a fatal head injury, and gave us the option of having her put to sleep. we agreed, and she was soon fast asleep. i cant believe in the short amount of time we have had saskia, she has got so much into my heart. and as hard as it was to say goodbye, it was even more heartbreaki…

hey all, after all my escapades with Ice, we lost him a couple of weeks ago, he was only 1 1/2years old and gave me the best year i had with him, in my life. he suffocated after rummaging the bin and finding a ready roast chicken bag, doing what he loved best, he licked out the jiuces from the bottom of the bag and used up all his oxygen, he passed out, and then because the bag didn't come off, he died, i was only out for an hour and came back to find him. it's been realy hard, keep wishing i hadn't left him, miss him soo much he bougth so much joy to us, and everybody he met, was a complete nutter and you could make him do anything for a treat, life just feels so empty n…

Sutula's Raphael May 21, 2005 - January 31, 2012 Farewell, my beloved fur-kid - run free over the Rainbow Bridge, and know that I love you and will miss you! Raffi has been ill recently, and got noticeably worse over the weekend. He apparently managed to eat a piece of metal at some point, as revealed through an x-ray today, which perforated his intestines. Prognosis, even with surgery, was not good, so I let him go this afternoon... He was one of the more special fur-people to grace my life, and I miss him terribly...

Well one of Saskia,s last pups Caspian has been shot dead!! Yes you read it right !! Her owner had been warned a few days ago about her running loose and harassing and suspected of killing sheep . I took sympathy on her and was mad at the farmer because I took it as a one off thing ( she escaped). Well today she got out again which ended her life by being shot which the farmer was quite within his right to do. I am just soooooooooooooooo bl...y mad that all the advice given was a waste of space. First I was angry then I cried, its not her fault but her owners. RUN FREE OVER RAINBOW BRIDGE, CASPIAN, RUN FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. X X

I lost my boy yesterday. He had a stroke shortly after he got up for the day. We had a few hours to say our goodbyes before the vet came. A golden heart stopped beating, a golden soul is gone. I treasure the time we shared. No other will ever compare... I wrote the following in his memory: "The Blue-eyes That I've Loved So Long" The Northern Lights are brighter now The Bridge is a busier place The blue-eyes that I've loved so long No longer gaze upon my face His ailments are all gone now He runs healthy, wild and free The blue-eyes that I've loved so long No longer staring back at me My heart, swells with emptiness But recalls the joy we shared The …

First I just want to say thank you to everyone who welcomed me on this site and helped me with Balto when I thought I was at my ropes end. He was such a great dog and I loved him very much. Now to the story: Balto was outside on his harness and lead while we were working on my mother in laws roof. Balto has been on this lead I don't know how many times and has been really good on it. Well baby woke up from her nap and my husband cut his hand so he went inside to get it cleaned and some bandage while I went to grab the baby and and put her in her swing. Well we came back out after being inside for maybe 15 minutes and Balto was gone!!! His harness was still there as he…

Dunc has asked me to let you all know saskia had to be put to sleep this morning ? She was the mum to my 2 boys kimba and kaiser and was loving and such a sweet lady. She had gone downhill lately having diabetes and a brain tumour but she was always full of life. She will be missed so so much and I am so glad I got to say goodbye. I have so many memories of her but not half as many as sue and Dunc. This is such a hard time now having to adjust for them and for Wolf. Rip gorgeous girl you will always be loved and cherished xx

Once again, I sadly announce another member has joined my Rainbow Bridge Dream Team... Rebel was twelve and a half years young, and was in wonderful health until last spring, when a number of things happened, including a couple of surgeries and the start of a battle with a very persistent bladder infection. He's slowly gotten worse over the last week or so, so with the help of my vet, we let him quietly slip away to the Rainbow Bridge today... Sutula's Never Surrender - "Rebel" February 9, 2000 - November 17, 2012 You will always be missed, Sweetheart!

We had to let our Big Boy, Buddha, go this morning just before noon. He went very easily, and better then we expected. He took a turn for the worse over the weekend, and we just couldn't let him go on that. He was 13.5yrs old, and my husband and I's first dog together. He was kind, loyal, protective and a great role model for the two huskies he was a big brother of during his life with our pack. Gracie Husky Pup with was with us the whole time to and from the vet, she sniffed him on the ride home for a little while, and then climbed in the front seat of the van and rested her paw on my arm the remainder of the ride home. It is an end of an era. Buddha is resting right nex…

I'm pushing away tears as I write this. In 1997, before we knew anything about breeders, Kenai came to us from a back yard breeder not too far from us here in the midwest. For the next 14 years she would jump to her feet every time a set of car keys jingled, a door was opened or somebody grabbed her leash. If you thought you could sneak a treat from her cabinet you soon discovered you hadn't when you turned around and she was watching you. She went with me everywhere, sometimes to the annoyance of family members when they had to share their seat with her in the car. She didn't know a stranger. As the saying goes - "Strangers are only friends she hadn…

The last week has been tremendously hard on me and my girlfriend but last night was the first time was saw visible pain on her and that was enough for us to make the decision. at 18 months of age as you can imagine i feel distraught hurt broken a million things that i wouldn't wish on anyone else. we rescued Miley at 8 weeks of age from care. she was a fat little thing that we fell in love with straight away she was welcomed home and lets …

Bailey. RIP 1 2

It is with heavy heart that I make my first post on this forum. I regret that I didn't come across the forum until it's too late. My lovely Bailey was hit by a car on August 20th. Although he remained alive and appeared unmarked, he had suffered a blow to the head causing brain damage: he was paralysed. I took him to the vets and the vet immediately diagnosed the condition and advised me that there was little hope that he'd ever regain normal movement. Through all this he was clearly conscious as his eyes would follow me and react. He must have been totally bewildered and confused that he couldn't sit up or wag his tail. So with a very heavy heart, I signed the…
