What's one thing you greatly dislike about your Husky that is specific to Huskies? For me it has to be the scream. Whether it is taking a bath or giving him his medication or brushing him, it doesn't matter. He will scream like he is being mutilated. Loud and blood churning screams. A sound like nothing else I have ever heard any other dog make. I refuse to give into his tantrums and so he screams all the more. I swear my neighbors think I beat my dog I hope he grows out of it What's yours?

Found this link: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/363931/the_siberian_husky_is_no_guard_dog.html?cat=9 I have also been told that sibes are hopeless guard dogs, Balto will bark if he see's someone in the dark when he go's for a pee, but alaska wont >>>> she has whoo'd and growled but then ran behind me for help lol:rolleyes: BUT .... has anyone ever put it to the test, i hope no one on here as been attacked or broken into, but i wonder if you were would any of the sibes instincs kick in .....? or have there been any cases where a sibe has? what are your sibes like around the house and dodgy people?

Hi my name is Sally Straw,we currently live in Germany as my husband is in the British Army. We have a 4year old son Alexander and 2 husky pups brother Ruco and sister Kaala 6 monthes old. Our friend has their mum. The litter went just before Christmas and then about a month ago the family who took Kaala brought her back saying she was too big for them and they didn't want her anymore! i know terrible isn't it?! So we said to our friend we'd take her in. She is such a lovely natured dog and so good with our son. Then a guy who works with my husband (who got Kaala's brother Ruco) said his wife couldn't handle the dog and 2 kids while he went away and did we know anyone who…

A lot of dog people think that getting their dog a puppy or another adult dog for companionship is a terrific idea, and it IS! But then it seems like fights break out, or the two dogs together seem to feed off each other's misbehavior. Or even worse, the initial meeting goes awry and you end up with one very angry and territorial established pet. In an effort to help smooth things out for you, I've compiled a list of Do's and Don'ts for that first meeting, and thrown in a few of the later frequently asked questions as well. Meeting for the First Time The very first thing you should do, is make sure that the established dog is at least some…

Hi Guys Nanook is over 6 months old now but is still really head shy and timid with strangers, myself and my partner can stroke his head without a problem and get cuddles etc etc but he does not seem to trust many other people... as soon as someone goes to stroke him he pulls away quickly and sometimes opens his mouth (doesnt snap) but issues a little warning which sometimes scares people He has been to puppy class etc (he is the same there) he lets people give him a treat when they stroke him but soon as he has ate it he again pulls away quickly as if he is scared... I would love it for him to be a bit more trusting to people as people so…

hey there. i am new to this site--hoping someone out there has some suggestions. i have a one year old female husky mix; dad is full bred husky and mom is a border collie mix. i brought her home at 9 weeks and she is doing very well. for a husky, she is EXCELLENT off leash and was raised with a kitty, so she loves kitties. my partner and i have been diligent in our training. she responds well to treats and is a very fast learner. we started doggy day care one day a week (on a day when she has a friend there with her) about a month ago to help with socialization and it's worked phenomenally! except for when we leave her alone. we tried to leave her out at first and she des…

Bikejoring is great fun for both you and your dog ,this is my fav way of exercising my dogs The antenna is used for saftey to keep your lines from getting caught under the wheels >>>you can also use a peice of plastic pipe .you can buy the antenna here :www.sleddogshop.com/ Shock absorber lines can be bought at www.snowpawstore.co.uk or any good supplier. I use a short harness as the line is high up on the bike I use manmat long distance harnesses as they are well padded around the neck and chest also bought at www.snowpawstore.co.uk.

I have had to pause Lion King 2 to post this before I forget again. Today when I took Gizmo out we saw a small-medium sized dog (sorry I cant remember the breed name at the moment) a little smaller than Gizmo is. He and gizmo got along brilliantly and were playing with each other (as normal, the other dog wasnt on a lead) which was great. I was on my way back home with Gizmo when we met the other dog. We let them play for a while whilst we were chatting and then continued on our way. I got back had a quick 5 min rest to have drink etc refill poop bags too and all that then I took Marley and Bandit out together. On our way to Delph Woods (about 1/2 mile away fro…

I want to know if a few people can give me some threads in here reviewing their Rigs & Scooters. This is something I'm pretty sure eventually Sarah and Me would like to get into, but I'm one for having a good look around at different products before I buy things and would like you guys opinions on your own giving the good points and the bad points. If you create a new thread on your scooter, post a link to it in your reply on this thread along with the model as I am going to try and get a database up and running for product reviews as I think its a very usefull thing for people who are new to owning huskys, training and racing etc.

Had a 'one - on - one' with the dof trainer today and she totally dismissed the idea that 'Husky type' dogs could not be taught to recall - even if in a field full of sheep! Watch this space for how I progress with Blizzy on the issue.... but, Does anyone's Husky, Malamute etc etc readily return to you when of the lead and running free. I'm sceptical but have to trust Cath's opinion!!

Now that Maddie is house broken, she is no longer being crated at night. She likes to sleep next to the bed on her poof. When she hears the alarm sound, she gets onto the bed for a morning cuddle. After I let the dogs back in, she races down the hallway and jumps on DH, kiss him and then curls up next to him and goes back to sleep. It's really cute! So, where do yours sleep?

I think Marley is needing to loose his 2 best friends (his blueberries)! As most of you know, Gizmo is alpha but since last night Im thinking Marley is taking charge! First of all, he kept attacking poor Bandit (Some day he will be attack free the poor darling) for no apparent reason. There was no food, no toys, Bandit wasnt even looking at him! Bandit is terrified of Marley now and he was sat in the corner of the living room all night! Eventually I took him upstairs with me, away from Marley, where he came and cuddled up next to me and went to sleep. Then Marley launched to Gizmo!!!! Knowing what Gizmo can get like when he is challenged I thought he…

Naa-ney gets hic-cups on a regular basis. She gets them daily at least two to three times a day. Sometimes after drinking/eating, sometimes after playing. The can last any where from a few minutes to like ten to 15 min. They don't seem to bother her but i was just wondering if any other sibes do this.
