Do you let your dog sniff when on walks or do you only allow it in certain areas? Took my boys out tonight and every lamp post / tree we passed got the once over by my two - now personally, I don't mind this - my view is - they're out on a walk and should sniff to their hearts content, it's how they learn about the world outside. Reason for this question is that whilst on a walk tonight I saw a man on the other side of the road with a Jack Russell and he wouldn't let him stop even for a spray up a lamp post. What do you think - should they WALK or Walk and sniff? Or walk to the field or where ever you walk them and THEN sniff?

Hi all, does anyone have any recommended collars and harnesses. Ive tried various different ones, all of which have either snapped or been insuffficient. Ive recently ordered a harness from an online husky owner - cant remember the website - called a x-harness - im preying that these do the trick (im sure they will since their huskys use them) what do you guys use?

Hi all. I have been meaning to review these products and tell you how good they are for a few months. The products are: The furminator (deshedding tool) The Rapid Bath System And the Peticure Power Professional The Furminator is a godsend...really I stand by this product, especially having chewbacca. At first I was a bit skeptical thinking "its just a stinkin hand rake" but this deshedding tool lives up to the hype. Despite the fact that it still takes awhile to get the undercoat cleaned out, it is still way better than a brush or comb and still takes way less time. I have now graduated chewy up to th…

Does the weather affect your pets? When it's raining and miserable - bit like it's been all day today here lol - my boys are lethargic and peaceful but when it's dry they're in and out of the house constantly. Having said that - thunder lightning etc they don't bother with at all

hi we have a 4 month old male siberian husky absolutely beautiful but i am worried about some of his habits hopefully someone can help. we live in adelaide sth aust/australia the weather is in the low teens but kodah finds the weather very warm already and is always lying on shower floor is this normal we are worried about summer as it gets very hot here thinking of getting a small pool for him. also we had a blue heeler who sadly died at 14yrs of age 3 weeks ago since then we have found kodah is very fussy about the food he eats. give him chicken necks, dry food, raw meat, dog treats and he does eat but only picks at his food at any time …

Can someone tell me the benefit of getting your dog a back pack - I know a lot of people do it but wondered if it held any significant benefit other being able to carry a drink or the poo bags. Is it good for the dogs? does it tire them out easier? etc.

Hi I wondered if anyone could tell me a bit more about their dogs. The typical characteristics that they talk about is this high energy and enthusiasm which a lot of books portray as a downside. Well I have a lab and they say tha they need excessive amounts of exercise when they are younger. How much exercise do you give your sibe every day? I was planning on going over to see this boy that is in the rescue centre this weekend but I have to go to work today and they have said that they don't open on a Sunday, definitely wouldn't make an exception so won't be able to go. My OH is away with work Monday to Thursday so they said to call next Friday to see if he is…

I know his only playing like pups do. But he does this around my youngest with him being so small and easy for him to reach. Any tips to help stop this ? Thanks in advance once again. :grinning-smiley-003

Ok once again in the dark about this one. I notice that my baby and her brother both do what i call clean themselves. Yes just like a cat, except behind the head and ears, Lana licks her coat as is she is cleaning herself. Now we do bathe her (in another post about Bathing Siberian Husky) but she still licks herself everywhere she can get just about. Now if your thinking about fleas i would have to say a strong but proud no! She doesnt bit like a dog would with fleas she licks, and licks. I personally have not seen this in a dog unless its an open wound. Most of all i know cats get hairballs but never heard of a dog getting hair balls? Then again that is not somet…

I seen several Huskies tail curl and Lana doesn't. I know that Malamutess and Alaskan husky tail curl. I had Lana DNA tested when i first got her to ensure that she was a Purebred. Is this something common for a husky tail not to curl or is there something i should look into deeper. In other words is it alright that hers dont curl. She as her tall alway up in the air and arch over her back a little but never curls.

Pack Leader: So i have never seen this in any dog before and my old man has never experinced it as well. When Lana is sleep she moves her feet as if she is chasing something in her dreams. At first looked she was twitching so naturally i am thinking some thing is wrong. Vet said she is healthy and is most likely running in her dreams. I just want to make sure have anyone else experienced this before with their husky?

Running Free 1 2 3

Hi This is our first post. We have two dogs, brother and sister, aged 4 months. Before the dogs were chosen I had read reports that Huskies could never be allowed to run free safely. Our two dogs have been running free in the woods since they were 8 weeks old. They recall to there names and by whistle reliably. However, not having any previous experience, is this going to continue, would be upset if such a large dog had to be constrained by a lead. Thanks

Hi everyone,, looking for some advice, ideas, help!!!,, As you know we have pagan now whos is 13 weeks old, she is house trained and has been since we got her but the last few days/week she has been acting kinda strange. On 3 occasions now she has purposely gone into her crate and peed, the first 2 times we were not quite sure if she had been caught short, but the 3rd time was half an hour ago after we got back from a walk with nix and blaze, she sat and waited for me to take her collar and lead off then went straight to her crate pulled the door open with her paw went inside and took a pee, as she has full access to the garden all day long untill we crate her at night…

So Kaiya is about 4 months old now, we almost ended up getting one of her littermates, but that fell through on us. Since day one however, we pretty much assumed we were going to end up with two huskies and now we are starting to develop our game plan to do so. Now that we have done/are doing the puppy thing, the second time around we are going to go with a rescued husky and we are looking for some suggestions on the best course of action. So 1) Kaiya is only 4 months old, has gone through beginner training but is still learning. Is it too soon to consider another husky? We will be going with a rescue so we are "hoping" to get one that already has a good base o…

This is a bit similar to Mary & Tony's query about Grey in that I am trying to investigate Diesel's history. I have tried ringing the Kennel Club on the number off their website, but the number is constantly engaged, so I emailed them last week. In my original email, I stated we had rehomed Diesel, we have no history on him as everything we were told turns out false. The only thing we have for definite is his pet name & his microchip number, that my vet found when I took him for a vet check when we first brought him home. We were told he was 3, turns out he's at least 5 when we count back; we're still not sure if he's a mal or ma…
