I think there needs to be a sticky on crate training huskies. It comes up a lot and it DOES present problems to new owners unique to crating other dogs. If you've posted on the subject in the past explaining your experiences and ideas, please search it out and copy and paste it here. Or if you've never posted on the subject but have experience, please share. It won't read like normal post, but rather just a wealth of experienced husky owners tips and ideas. If enough good information on the subject gets added to this thread, perhaps it will be worth making a sticky.

I thought I would start a little thread on cleaning up after inside accidents as there seems to be a few people having some issues of late I have been very lucky with Ronin and his toilet training, but my advice comes from experience with my previous dog that had daily accidents towards the end of her 14+ years. One of the big problems with inside peeing, especially on carpet is that urine contains ammonia which as we all know stinks to high heaven. Many cleaning products contain ammonia so our dogs can smell even the smallest amount and think "hey great, it must be okay to pee in an area that already smells of pee, woo-hoo!" The other problem is that if w…

OK, bear with me folks. A little introduction here. I picked up my Sibes at a local shelter. Found the female, debated it for a week, pulled the trigger. The day I picked her up, ended up deciding to get the male. I did not do proper research ahead of time, and found out later that I wasn't properly prepared. In my quest for information and tips, I found this site. It has been a life saver! Now...what I'd like to do with this thread is help out all the other people that are new to Sibes, or are looking into Sibes. So please, if you have some tips, a heads up on what to expect, or something people should plan for, please post them up! I'll do …

Hey all, If you are reading this post, you are either intrigued or you are in the same position my partner and I, fearing our dog was pregnant and what would we do? Ok... let’s wind back to the start. Signs your dog is definitely pregnant (from approx 4 weeks before labour all will be present) Look from the top down on your dog, is she misshapen? She will look filled in her body before her back legs. A noticeable sign is her losing fur on her underside/belly and growing teats. Her attitude may change from normal. She may be either very clingy or want to be alone.[ She may start having trouble with the…

Thought this would be helpful to new owners to read about other owners first experience (i.e. First night home, first walk, first vet visit, etc etc) and how they handled it and what they would recommend to a new owner. Will list here different first time experiences and you can either copy and paste all the titles and write about them all or choose to do a few. Choosing your first dog what happened what did you do what would you advise now more experienced Preparing your home what happened what did you do what would you advise now more experienced First 24 hours home what happened what di…

Hi everyone, there is allways an up and down to everything, ive read all about the downs, but not heard any happy stories about friends or family or colleagues out there that have sibes who have had a happy, sucessfull birth, is there anyone here who has any positives or is the majority that you should never ever let your sibe have babies. And yes i would love to have my sibey babe have babies and yes that may be selfish, but i am undecided and trying to get a clear decider, so ive decided to do a poll, not on wether my sibe should have babies, as i would not decide that by a poll!!!!!!! I simply want to get an overall idea from experienced sibey babe owners, if all the …

Moo has given birth to four healthy pups, unfortunately she had a still born early this morning after the other four. She started to rest and she was losing the green discharge,so we thought she was done, then just now, eight hours after the still born, she gave birth to another pup, alive and healthy. Is it normal that she had a pup so long after?

Little Taiya has been missing since 5.15pm this afternoon when my brother-in-law left the front door open - She and twin brother Leon both legged it but we have since recovered Leon safe and well. Taiya is a little red with right eye blue and left eye brown, she has a permanent snow nose too. Lost in the Harpurhey area of Manchester and will have separation anxiety with her brother who is now starting to get distressed. We have looked both on foot and in the carwith no luck :-(

Hi my name is Chloe, I live in Northern Ireland, I'm 13 and am planning in getting a husky pup. Unfortunately my mum is not a dog person but she is fine with me getting one as long as I keep it outside and I have been looking everywhere to find as much info on the breed as I can. I am pretty confident on getting one and I know a lot now. But you's are the experts so this is why I am asking you's this question as I cannot find the answer:: What age can a husky pup live outside in a run at (I have a good 15ft of space and I will let it out ect. With my supervision). My dad has also researched the breed and he told me they can live outside at3 months. …

So since im getting a Pup soon i was just wondering why you guys chose Huskies over other breeds? I chose a Husky because ive wanted a Husky since i was 6 and because i have very very bad confidence issues when it comes to talking to people and meeting new people so i thought a beautiful breed like a Husky could help me get out and about and help me. What about you guys?

At around 5 am she woke up puking and out came a wad of paper towel. She ate breakfast normally around 7, and pooped normal poop. About an hour ago she vomited up her breakfast, is whimpering and drooling. She won't drink and is not interested in her treats. But she is playing with her toys. What do I do? I can only imagine she has eaten something she isn't supposed to. When do I worry about blockage? I wish she would drink water. Every once in awhile she cries but then goes back to playing. Her tummy doesn't feel distended and she doesn't seem to have pain if I touch it. Worried.

Hi, A bit of background: We have owned dogs for the last 16 years (married 16 years too), our previous dogs have been mix breeds (collie crosses) and a Blue Merle Collie (blind from birth). We also own 2 cats and 2 kittens (not quite largely grown) 5 months ago (or there abouts) we lost Kali, or last collie cross to cancer...I decided that we would not go through that again and didn't want another dog. My wife decided that we should get another 2 weeks later and I agreed (after a little pursuasion...Very little). We look around the adoption centres and find Shinobi, a beautiful White Sibe. Not knowing that much about them, I purchase …

Soz i meant: UKC or AKC << not ACK...duuhhhh lol Huskies are soo different all over, i was wondering to get a little background history, and why sibes are so different. Today i saw a Husky that was red and white, has yellow/almond eyes and on his back he had darker streaks of red and he actually looked very much like Sara's Kimba (very cute) >> This sibe was called Mocha and he was lovely, he was rather stocky, not too long in body, but not fat and his tail touched his back. Is this to standard? Are sibes tail's now allowed to touch their backs? Im guessing it is acceptable as he was KC. But... The breed standard for Amer…
