I will be picking up my new puppy in about a month now! I am super excited and have started to think of names for her. She is a purebred siberian husky. Female, grey and white. No pictures to share right now, but there will be lots of those when I pick her up. It will be a long day getting her as she is 6 hours (one way) from me. But it will be so worth it! Anyways... I have been writing down a list of names and I am looking for more suggestions. Looking for something more unique, not as common and NO human names. I like names that have to do with winter too. On the list so far: - Laika - Aura - Glacier - Arctic - Halo

So the other day I let Astro out the back garden at night, it's just fields behind my house so my garden is pitch black. I saw him race towards the fence and jump, I actually thought he had gone over but luckily not! The next day I saw why - a huge rat was sat by the back fence! I've got fake grass so they can't bury through that, but in the corner I've got a shed and between the concrete base and the fence there's a gap with just soil and they have been burying through that I'm not poisoning them, has anyone got any ideas what I could put in the gap to stop them burying through? The Adventures of Ava the misbehava...So we are getting this lovely snowstorm today with winds gusting 18 miles an hour and wet snow falling/blowing, it says it's 21* out, but with the windchill it feels like 6* I let the dogs out as I do every morning to go romp around the yard and not two minutes later Ava appears in her usual napping spot with one of her stuffed toys she had hidden from the boys...or so I thought, upon second glance I realized she had a squirrel in her mouth, UGH...the chase was on, we played a little catch me if you can, then I told her it was time to go in and asked if she wanted a treat, of course she brought the squirrel with her, but was careful t…

im enjoying all the pictures everyone is posting about the snow and good weather because currently in my area we're huddled up and definately NOT going outside. on thursday in ottawa, canada it was -27°c, with windchills it felt like -36°c, making it the coldest capital in the world! i live about an hour away in a small town so i can only imagine it was a couple degrees cooler here. but still we beat out greenland AND mongolia, which on average apparently is the coldest capital. it hasnt been a fun week. found this quote on the cbc website, just to keep it husky [emoji6] "The overnight temperature in Novosibirsk, the unofficial capital of the Russian region of Siber…

I've not been to the rescue for a few weeks so I thought I'd check the website to see who's arrived/been rehomed/been returned. And I came across this!! I'm absolutely furious. Why has he been returned for something which was the owners stupid fault! And why on earth would you let a dog offlead by livestock! Rarrrr Sent from my iPhone using Husky Owners mobile app

This was almost a post in the Steam Room! We adopted our giant husky furball (she's 60cm tall, super fluffy and overweight!) almost 5.5 weeks ago. Either the adoption agency or council took their time, so we hadn't been able to register and claim pet ownership -- until today! She's finally, officially our furbaby! Hooray! And we found out her birthday from the registry! Double hooray!

Being vegetarian, we are going for a Quorn 'chicken' roll joint, dauphinoise potatoes, roast potatoes, brussels sprouts, roasted parsnips in mustard & honey, petit pois peas & cauliflower cheese. For starters baked avocado with cream cheese. We have a salted caramel, belgian chocolate gateau with fresh cream - the boys will lick the bowls out afterwards - or we wont hear the end of it. My boys are having fresh salmon, lamb's heart chunks, a little premium offal, beef mince and a chicken wing with a couple of brussels and grated carrot over and a splodge of kefir cheese. Their starter is a mushy pea 'soup' - with raw eggs, a little milk kefir, gra…

Hi All, After seeing a few people on the forums get DNA test done I decided to get Mowgli done. From looking at Mowgli I knew he was Husky / Malamute or very very close too. I decided to use a company which is called ACCU-METRICS as I saw someone hear had done and they were cheap. As I do not trust companies like this I decided to try and trick them and see what they came back with. This company asked for a photo of your dog to put on the Certificate which instantly put me so I decided to google a picture and use that They also asked what breeds you think you dog may have in and I listed Malamute and German Shepard knowing that Mowgli does not have a trace…
