A really good article about the topic from the Sibes and Sled Dogs website: Why Can’t Siberian Huskies Safely Go Off-Lead? This is one of the constant questions raised about Siberian Huskies. You would think it would be enough that: every responsible Siberian Husky owner will tell you that it is not safe to let a Siberian Husky off lead in an unenclosed area, every ethical Siberian Husky Breeder will tell you that it is not safe to let a Siberian Husky off lead in an unenclosed area, every single Siberian Husky rescue organisation IN THE WORLD will tell you that it is not safe to let a Siberian Husky off lead in an unenclosed area; and that every single Siberian Husky …

Lets make a new thread for this to grab the attention of people who didn't know about this yet. 1Award is a voting site that lets you vote for your favourite sites. It's very simple. Just follow the link, click vote and you're done. You can vote once everyday which means you can come back her the next day and vote again! Last year we ALMOST got the gold award. Let's break... no, SHATTER our previous record this year!! http://1award.co.uk/addvote.php?vote=9517 Additionally, I made a small email-reminder for people who want to get reminded to vote every day. If you want to get reminders this way, feel free to send a PM to me and I'll add…

Talk about Pokemon here. Anything related to pokemon. Discuss your favourite types, individual pokemon, or compare your teams to each other. If you have one of the newer DS games, you can post your 'Friend code' (I believe for Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver.) so you can battle/trade each other.

Hi everyone, Due to an increased number of people asking for signatures (from myself, @Andy, or others), I decided to make a thread devoted to requesting signatures...so we can keep track of any requests. ( Staff , can we please make this a sticky?) What You Need When You Request A Signature: - Pictures and your dog(s) names corresponding to it. - Any personal preferences (colour scheme, border, etc) - If you have more than 4 huskies/animals you want on your signature, then you will be getting an animated signature (gif). This is because I don't like to crowd my banners - other people like Andy or Sparks may not be of the same opinion and m…

Just a few questions to understand what type of personality your husky has. I am always enamored by the different personalities that huskies can have and would like to compare your husky's personality with Smokey's. Unfortunately I can't meet all of them so show me yours! 1. When your husky disobeys you, how does he do it? i.e. talks back, runs away, turns a deaf ear, won't look you in the eye etc. 2. What commands/tricks does your husky understand? 3. Where is your husky's favorite place to be scratched? 4. Does your husky always pull the leash/lead? (when you walk, run, bike etc.) 5. Does your husky play fetch and b…

So, following on from my announcement came up with a great idea to have a thread where anyone wanting to loose a bit of weight, or even gain it as I know that's hard for some people too, maybe you want to get more active but haven't the motivation, can come and discuss their challenges, share opinions, success stories etc My goal is to loose weight within 12 months, but to do it sensibly by changing my eating habits and to exercise more. I'm calorie counting using an ap called my fitness pal, and also using an ap called runkeeper to log walks that i go on so i can see how far i've walked, how long it took me, and how many calories i've burnt. I've walked the dog…

Well, I'm betting we'll get more men participating in this than women, but since there's a heavy unequal balance of women on this forum, who knows? Since many of our profile pictures are shots of dogs, it's difficult picture with any accuracy what you guys might look like, what generation your ideas are from, and so on. Therefore to encourage the women of husky owners to step forward, here's what I'm going to do. If you choose NOT to participate then I'm just going to be left with no other choice than to visualize you as being eighty years old. Note: if you are under 20, then just say that. That will be sufficient.

Took Zihna to the walking trail to go for a nice walk this morning. I decided to put the retractable leash on her. We had just started walking and I stopped to stick something in my pocket and she pulled and the handle of the retractable leash slipped right out of my hand, hit the ground and scared her and she took off. I tried everything to get her to come back but she did not even turn around because the handle was bouncing up and down as she was running and probably scared the crap out of her. I looked for her for 1 hour on the fields and through the woods and asked everyone that I saw if they seen her. There was a huge pile of dirt as they are still building on the tr…
