"The Blue-eyes That I've Loved So Long"

The Northern Lights are brighter now
The Bridge is a busier place…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
No longer gaze upon my face

His ailments are all gone now
He runs healthy, wild and free…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
No longer staring back at me

My heart, swells with emptiness
But recalls the joy we shared…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
The ways they showed he cared

For fifteen years we shared our hearts
Our joy, our fun, our play…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
Wait to share another day

The lessons that he taught me
Are the same ones that I learned…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
Into my soul are burned

He told me that he’ll wait for me
I pray it’s not too long…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
Still sing his husky song

My husky child, my boy, my love, my bud
Apart though we must be…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
Watch patiently for me

The world’s a darker place today
Because you had to go…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
Showed me that you know

The fun once shared, now a memory
Until we meet again…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
Keeping our secrets until then

‘Til the time my arms can hold you
Play hard, my boy - run strong, run free…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
Gazed up from near my knee

Thank you Bo, for the things you shared
For the things that I now know…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
I had to let you go

Take my secrets with you
Keep them safely in your heart…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
Someday, we’ll never part

Your ancient soul it speaks to me
You’re now wilderness and wind…
The blue-eyes that I’ve loved so long
Farewell my precious friend
