Echo Came Home

My darling red Siberian Husky, Echo, was born at Suitter's Sonshine Siberians on June 25th, 2010. The day before I turned 19! I found an ad online about these beautiful pups, and I fell in love. Brandon and I had been in a disagreement for at least a year about what kind of a dog we should get. We threw around several different breeds, but...

A few weeks ago I had a major scare with merlin. He stopped using his bionic leg and appeared to be in pain with it. I thought, oh god, this is it, the end of his life has come sooner than I thought. So off we went to see Noel his vet.
Everyone was pleased to see Merlin as they always are. He gets lots of attention when ever we go to the vets and...

the rabbit

I was sitting in my backyard enjoying the day today when suddenly i saw a blur of grey run into the bushes with leku in pursuit, seconds later i heard a terrible scream so i went to check it out it turns out leku had cornered and killed a rabbit in under 30 seconds I couldn't get the rabbit away from her so she got to eat it and guess who had...

Anti Tick Device

I use Front Line regularly with our two but - even though they die very soon after attaching themselves - I hated the fact that ticks would still bite the dogs, so I looked into the many things out there to try.

I am truly amazed to say that the first thing I tried seems to be working an absolute treat! I saw some small sonic key fobs for...

Obi's First Pack walk

Hey people! Obi just had his first pack walk with other dogs and people. We met up around 6:00am and walked at around 7:00am to 8:00am.

The Dog Behavioral Instructor said Obi didn't have any other behavioral problems other than nibbling. So..it's a good start.
Other new dog pack walkers have issues like insecurity and dominance. But...

down in the dumps

it's silly really. honestly. smokey had a tick. it was probably about the size of the upper part of my thumb. and i panicked. i took him to emergency care and the vet removed it but she didn't remove the head. i took him to my vet this evening and she had to sedate him and shave him and remove the rest of it. then she charged me a...

Doing what he was born to do

So today I decided to see if we could get Darwin to stretch his legs. because he has only been with us for 4 days, we're certainly not ready to let him off the lead for a run. Although we have a couple of enclosed areas we use. we want to be HIS humans and that he will respond positively to us. rather than being some people he's been...

Erg!

Chewbacca keeps waking me up at 3:20am and again at 4:00am or 4:20am. I can almost set my watch by it. It's very frustrating. He was sleeping through the night, but that seems to be over. I've been giving him his last bowl of water at 7pm. I will try changing it to 8pm to see if he sleeps an extra hour. Maybe that will help.

Demanding Beer

The whole reason I found this site was because I wanted to connect with people with Siberian Huskies and see if they were having the same thing happen with their Sibes. Rocko is relentless when he gets in the mood for beer. Almost daily he witnesses beer being consumed. About once a month he gets very adamant about having some beer. He sees it...

Zinc Defiency

About 18 months ago my husky developed a Zinc Defiency which caused her to loose most of her fur around her eye. She has been taking Zinc Supplements but it still hasnt cleared up. The vets cannot help any more i have changed her food which has helped a little but wondered if anyone had any other suggestions.

Killed His First Hippo

I'm a writer so I tend to spill my thoughts - I figured a blog would be easier than postings on the forum.

First a bit about me. I've always been more of a cat person, having been terrified of dogs as a youngster, and then learning to tolerate them as an adult because I realized a number of people I wanted to date had dogs and well,...

Laser eye treatment day

Thought I would do a little blog on this. Today I am getting my eyes lasered at 11:30am GMT. I have just woken up and thought to myself "This is the last time I will wake up and put my glasses on" and that was quite a surreal thought since I have worn glasses for so long now.

So how am I feeling? To be honest I'm not looking forward...

Quid pro quo.

For starters, let me tell you right up front that I'm not about to depress the hell out of you. This ends on positive, funny note, stick with me.

As many of you know, Nik passed away peacefully in Tim's arms on March 24, 2010, after a very long and happy life. Typing that sentence is as far as I can get right now; doing so has somehow...
